That's not even remotely true though. There's a 5 mph difference between the G87 (122 mph) and the RS3 (117 mph) in the quarter. There's only a 3 mph difference between the m240i and the RS3. It's closer to a "m light" than a full spec M car in almost all regards like braking and roadholding.
The M2 blows the RS3 out of the water.

I have personally seen the M2 get beaten(by a hair) by the RS3. My friend was in the M2. Of course, that's only up to 60mph..... after that, the M2 outruns the RS3.

The problem is that going al the way to the quarter mile at anything above 85mph on public roads here will result in almost mandatory arrest in my state. The officer who lets "reckless driving" drivers go end up getting investigated by internal affairs while doing desk duty with no overtime pay for 14 days.

Wait until the M2C xDrive comes out and try that again. AWD is what helped that 0-60.

Florida recently enacted a similar "super speeder" law. Anything 100mph and over or 40+ mph over the speed limit is a criminal rather than a misdemeanor offense.

Funny story: so when the law went into effect at 12:00am (I don't recall the date), the first offender was caught... at 12:02. A comment that I read said that the poor guy was just trying to get home before the law went into effect.

It's actually for rebadging a real RS3. Audi messed with the badges and the new ones look off. The R and S are separate on the new generation, and it's a different font.

I agree, they are the better car to live with but I wont give up my manual.

this year marks the 40th year that I attempted to learn to drive a stick. (technically, I tried in year 1 and stopped trying for the next 39 years)

sooner or later, I'll learn to drive a stick. oh, who am I kidding, I'll probably come back here in 2035 and say the same thing again. by then, my excuse will probably be "but all new cars are full EV" or "nobody makes a manual transmission car anymore"

I guess by "outrun" you mean specifically 0-60? Because if we're talking about any real world performance, any M car will out perform the RS3 in any situation. Again, the RS3 is more of a "M-light" competitor where they have similar 0-60 times, quarter mile mph, braking, roadholding, just basic performance metrics. I would call a RS3 quick, certainly not fast.

yeah... just 0-60. a year ago, I was seriously thinking about getting the M2, so I watched a bunch of review videos videos from Germany.

although "outrun" is probably not the right word... most of those German videos showed the RS3 ahead of the M2 by maybe one car length and only up to 60 or 62mph(100kph)... beyond that, the M2 always left the RS3 behind.

Not that I put a lot of weight in N'ring times. But the 8Y RS3 does come out ahead of many many Ms. Including the M4 GTS, CS, M5, M2, etc, etc.
