Can you get Vorsteiner from a body shop?

I have a friend who gets his family's cars done at a particular body shop. He has an E63 M6 and said his shop was able to get him the Vorsteiner rear diffuser for $1050.00. Is this legit or sound sketchy? Are Vorsteiner parts available to shops like this or just authorized dealers? How can you tell if the diffuser is authentic? Thanks..

You can only purchase Vorsteiner products from a Vorsteiner authorized dealer. Unless the shop knew someone that was selling it used or from another customer's car, it is highly unlikely they were able to get your friend a new Vorsteiner diffuser. It definitely sounds sketchy. An easy way to tell if it is authentic is to check the certificate of authenticity, which is provided with all Vorsteiner products. It looks like a credit card. Hope this helps.

Any shop can purchase Vorsteiner, it isn't anything special, they just have to setup a wholesale acct and they are ready to sell. Just look for a decal on the diffusers that says vorsteiner. You can always call up Vorsteiner as well to ask if they are resellers.

They're pretty selective about who they sign up as direct accounts.
A lot of the body shops purchase from us or other authorized distributors.

A few higher-end body shops like C&C collision who I believe did a couple of the cars in this thread... they go direct because they do a lot of Vorsteiner work

Hope this helps!
