Headlamp rebuilding

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy the pre LCI LED projectors for the F06 chassis? Most of the headlamps i see on ebay are used damaged housings they want 1500+ for or I can find bare housings with LEDs but no modules on Alibaba for 1k for both housings. Not sure on the quality of those.

New lens can be purchased and installed but I'm having trouble finding LED projector bulbs. My headlamp turns on for a second then clicks off. I've swapped modules between the L and R housings and there was no change. The passenger side works fine so I've eliminated the possibility of a module failure.

My next step would be to either replace the LED or to disassemble and test for a short internal to the housing. I have tested power to the housing and followed the steps in ISTA but it says replace headlamp assembly. Trying to save some cash but at the same time willing to pony up the funds if I have to.

Any help would be appreciated. Also not sure if I should just convert to the LCI lamps as those seem easier to find.

Had the exact same issue with my left headlamp, pre-LCI. Started out turning off when left in full automatic mode after making left turns which would engage the adaptive function, then gradually got worse until it would just turn on and off. I bought a unit off AliExpress without modules, and just swapped the modules over. Then just needed some vertical height adjustment afterwards which is easily done with the adjustment screw. Everything came well packed and was in great condition, including the lens. This was about a year ago and it came out to about $900 shipped. Build date on the headlight said 2019.

I figured that's the route I'll need to go. Im glad that the unit you purchased worked. Gives me some peace of mind if I buy one from there. Once I get the new housing I'll disassemble the old one to see what the exact failure was and if there's any part numbers for the bulb itself.

How did hand sanding fix the projector bulb?
