Lowering Springs for Alpina B6 Gran Coupe
Hi,
I am looking to lower my 2017 Alpina B6 Gran Coupe, and I am having trouble finding after market springs that have a direct fitment for my car. I contacted H&R and they couldn’t guarantee fitment for their springs that fit the F06 M6 Gran Coupe or the F06 605i Xdrive. Does anyone here know if the springs for the F06 M6 Gran Coupe or 650i Xdrive will fit an F06 Alpina B6? I would think the 650i Xdrive springs may work considering the Alpina B6 is all-wheel-drive. Any help would be appreciated! Last edited by polar993; 01-03-2019 at 02:19 PM.. |

Thanks Havy! That makes sense. Unfortunately the spring manufacturers won’t guarantee fitment, but if you and others believe that the springs for the 650i Xdrive will fit the B6, I may roll the dice and order a set.
I know most of you on this board are big fans of H&R springs....I am too, and I have them on my E60 M5. The drop on the H&Rs is 1.2” front and 1” rear. The drop of 1.2” in the front is a bit too much for me. Eibach has a set of springs that drops the front by 1” and the rear by .8”. To me, the Eibach has better specs to suit the look I am trying to achieve. Does anyone here recommend Eibach springs? Will the ride quality be comparable to the H&Rs? Considering the drop on the Eibach’s is less than the H&R’s, would the ride quality be a bit softer? I know spring rate has the biggest effect, but i don’t believe there is a way to compare spring rates, correct? |

I have the eibachs on my 650xi and love them, ride is a bit firmer but very acceptable. Looks / stance is awesome. Just be careful driving over bumps and potholes

I had the H&R height adjustable springs installed. The final height still needs adjustment....the front is too low, and the rear could be dropped a bit more. I’m going to let it settle over the next few days before making the final adjustments. Adjusting the springs is very difficult as it’s very tight up by the top of the strut. The rear isn’t as difficult to adjust.
The ride quality is very nice and didn’t change too much from the original stock suspension. The ride is about 15% stiffer, but on the comfort setting, it’s hard to tell the difference. Here are a few pics: |
