Where to go from an M6?
I'm the extremely happy owner of a 2014, unmodified, M6 convertible.
My question is, where does one go from there! My lease is up next May. Certainly, if a new, lighter version is available, that is a strong contender. OTOH, there a lot of new, interesting GT's on the horizon. At this stage in my life, I don't need a car like the Z06 Corvette. I'd be much more interested in the upcoming A-M DB11, despite the dollar difference. The Mercedes AMG GT would be in the mix, as well as a Jaguar SVR. I'm curious if anybody else has pondered this. After all, one of the points of leasing is the ability to turn over the cars in 2-3 years(in my case) David |

The new one won't be out by then, but by that stage the new M5 will have been detailed which will give you an idea of where the next M6 is headed.
If you want a 4 seater, the only car I can think of that would be an upgrade would be the FF or GTC4 Lusso. If a 2 seater, bear in mind that the M6 is about the same speed around a track as a Jag F Type, so the DB11 or AMG GT would be obvious choices. Or maybe a 599 or F12? |

Assuming you are a convertible guy, you have to give us more info to help. 2 or 4 seats, max budget, daily driver or week-end car, gt cruiser or more hard core, etc.

If you dont need 4 (funtional) seats.... 911 Turbo Cabrio would be my pick. My bro has one and still manages to stuff a car seat in the back occasionally. It's not technically a GT but its not a small car either. And it's a P-Car.... "Theres is no Substitute"

Definitely a convertible guy. 2 or 4 seats are fine. This is a weekend car,
definitely not a daily driver. Would like to cap it at $250,000. I purposely left off a Ferrari, say a 458 Spyder. More interested in a GT type car. I've had 2 Porsche Turbos. One a 1996 coupe and the second a 2004 convertible. Neither was a particularly comfortable ride. Think Radio Flyer. Have they improved? In any case, I'm well aware of the possibilities. I was more curious as to whether other people here have pondered this issue, and how they've planned to proceed. Or not. David Last edited by Deshapiro; 07-12-2016 at 09:08 AM.. |

991 Turbo S comes to mind. I was considering a Huracan next, because I can't afford an Aventador.

Yesterday i had change to try new S63 Coupe 4Matic - well, car is very different than M6, feels much more luxury and seats got massage(!) which is thing that I already miss in my M6 ...
It's less sporty, much slower, i think better equipment and more or less same interior quality as M6. If You don't care about performance and want "GT class car" - new S63 coupe is something which you should try... |

$250k budget will get you a Merc AMG S65 coupe. That's a proper upgrade from an M6. |

If you are interested in handling and performance... Porsche GT2/GT3 all day.
The 991 GT3 is amazing. AMG's have the luxury interior and great performance but lack handling. I have heard that the next gen M6 will be shorter, lighter and faster due to competing with the Porsche market. Would be interesting to see if this does happen soon |

It's 5.8" longer (198.6" vs 192.8") , 1.9" taller (56" vs 54.1") while almost the same width. It's also 428lb heavier (4678 vs 4250) plus softer suspension and AWD vs RWD (fun to drive)

If you want a GT more focused on sport then the 991.1 or the updated 991.2 911 turbo or turbo S would be an easy choice. 0-60 is 2.6 secs and 10.9 quarter mile right out of the box. Plus there are no rear wheel traction issues like we have in our car. There are several folks on other forums that daily drive this car with no complaints.
If you are looking more towards the luxury side of the GT cars, I would go for the Mercedes S63. I have seen several on the road and they are an amazing looking car. The interior is also a big step up from our cars. The downside is you will lose significant performance as this car is probably another 4-500lbs heavier than our car.

For a week-end toy and a 250k budget, a Mercedes seems a bit pedestrian....Its supercar all the way. Lots of cool late model exotics are available, like a Gallardo Spyder, or a BMW: Z8 Alpina that will likely go up in value, or a McLaren 650 S Spyder.
I see Mercedes, Porsches and Bentleys all day long.

Key here is not a daily driver... so forget the S65 ... the S65 CAB maybe but I still see this as the car you get when your kids are out of the house and you are ready to join the retired lifestyle. If you have done a M6 next car should be a real exotic ... 991.2 TS would by my next look and I may have gone this way over my 16 F12 but thought I needed the rear seats as I was coming from a Sl63. If you have not already gone Lambo .... I'd look at the H Spider - had a chance to drive one and it sounded better than my Gallarado and the transmission is as you would expect quite good (not 991 good). At first I was not keen on the understated looks but they are growing on me and the spider model is even better looking, especially with the right interior combo.

I also thought about the hurucan spyder...I think this however goes over the OP's 250k budget. doubt there would be any used ones available yet. the idea of a lambo without lambo doors is something I need to get over.
