Two key differences: this powertrain will be tuned differently for the M5 and, much more importantly, M5 will likely weigh around 1500lbs less.

I still hope its a mild hybrid system similar to X5M and not a PHEV. Just not ready for the plug in thing yet..

Very encouraging news. Promises to be an instant winner. If only dealer markups were prohibited …

With the massive weight increase over f90, gotta wonder if that extra power will make much improvement, and if tuning potential will be as good or not, very interested.

Those front and rear fenders seem to flair quite a bit more... I can already picture my 21'' LM-R's on this car!!!!! Cant wait! I might go for the wagon!

Wagon would steal a nice chunk of sales from X5/X6 M.

Probably. Rear wheel steering plus PHEV, I think for anyone into tuning the m5 this time the f90 may be the better choice because of weight. Interested to find out more about this.

Love the upgrade.

On another note, I am wondering if there will be an end to this ongoing horsepower wars between brands while I am struggling to keep my 600+ hp car under 35mph to avoid a ticket!

Would not hold my breath.

They may cancel last minute as they have before for wagons. The use and throw leasing culture rampant in our side of the world messes up the used ‘rarer’ car economics (cpo inventory and losses mounting).

I dropped a refundable $500 deposit to get the second spot at my dealer if it comes here. Who knows if it actually makes it here, but would be nice!

Well, how do you explain BMW's hesitance to offer wagon 3 and 5 series in the US then?

XM is 6062lbs...I just don't see 4562lbs happening for G90? Hybrid adding 220lbs over current M5?

Just the 25.7kwh battery pack will add 300lbs minimum. Going by standard kwh/lbs in EV industry. Then you add the electric motor, on board charger, ecu’s, sensors, wiring, etc.

Remember the new hybrid C63 now weighs 4600lbs, while downsizing to a 4-cylinder and having only a 6.1kwh battery pack. Yes using a different hybrid setup, but it is also a smaller car.
