My Z-blue Milgauss.

Anyone think this is coming back at Watches and Wonders this year? Any other guesses as to what we might see from the Crown this year?

A few days ago in Antarctica.

There were a *lot* of Rolex's on the ship we were on-- lots of OP's, a surprising number of Explorer II's, and a few Datejusts.

Not a single other Air King though.

So, after thinking it over for a fair while, I passed today on a blue/black GMT II on a Jubilee bracelet. I wanted to love it, but honestly? The Jubilee looked kind of "bling" on the watch, and the face is more or less identical to my Sub.

So, instead I put my name down for a white-faced Explorer II.

..... unless something really interesting comes up at W&W.

AD stated that it'll probably be a two-year wait.

Oh well.

Grabbed my first Rolex DJ when I was 14 years old and its been running good for 25 years.

My Dad wears the YG President 36mm which I will take over one day.

I plan to pick up the White Gold and Platinum version so I have one for each of my kids and my wife.

I went to my AD today to get the clasp changed on my wife's new Tahitian black pearl necklace.

This.... was in the "Used and Refurbished" display case.

41mm Coral Red OP.

It was gorgeous.

And, orange (which is my favorite color).

Asking price? $25k.

Ouch.

I told my AD that if it had been priced at half that, I'd have dropped my credit card immediately.

NICE piece, though.

They're getting a 41 OP Celebration in as well-- that one's going to list for $35k.

Yes, they're an AD and the watches are refurbished and certified..... but too rich for my blood.

I should have gotten on the list for the orange one when it was in production, but I didn't realize that Rolex would shut it down so fast. It was only produced for just under two years.

First Rolex was a stainless steel white face. Then went stainless steel Submariner with date.

Currently have a Stainless steel/Gold Black face Daytona 16253 and Yellow Gold President 18248 with a Bark bezel and bracelet.

$25k and $35k is an insane asking price. Tell your AD that watches are not an investment.

I agree. She's treated me well with new purchases, but their used/refurbished pricing is far too high.

But, it *was* a damn nice looking watch for dressier occasions. It was the first time I'd seen one in the wild.

But, I like orange.

Very nice. I would love a back Daytona but not paying a penny over for MSRP for one.

IDK but comparing pics from post# 1742 and # 1752. One looks like a rep and other is a gen? Something about the dial is off or just bad lighting/blur.

That’s how I felt, but I don’t spend nearly enough and my AD basically said try in 20 years… my mindset might be shifting for the Daytona and only the Daytona. I honestly really like the watch. Wouldn’t be buying for hype or resale, I genuinely love the design and the aesthetic of a panda chronograph and Rolex, I think, executes it perfectly. I’m a big Omega fan as well, but the Moonwatch just never called to me.

In 2017/2018 or so I found a grey market panda Daytona priced at $17k (when MSRP was $12,500 I believe). I was in no position to buy it then (was in law school and was not going to ask my parents for something like that…)

I’m still somewhat kicking myself for not someone grabbing it!

Yeah I got ya. My philosophy is never to buy from greys so yeah if I get one from the AD great, if not we move on to other things. I would actually prefer an all steel non ceramic 6 digit black Daytona ideally.

The 'love' is not strong enough and that is absolutely fair enough.

We buy cars, drive away and through 20k out of the window, so to get something you desire, what does MSRP matter?

I've used the grey market for two decades, when you could get models cheaper than MSRP and more recently a lot more than MSRP.

Picked up a Gen1 Pepsi a few months ago and could turn it for £3k profit currently, but I'm enjoying it.

But, it's an age old debate and everyone has their own opinion of it.

I went the obsolete way and got a white dial Moonwatch. Love it and I am wearing it right now.

I do also own a blue dial Yatchmaster.

Correct I agree. I also have my educated assessment of over twenty years on how this whole thing works and that’s why I am against going grey. Even if its cheaper than MSRP I’d rather do a private one to one sale than go grey.

In the end I buy to keep use and abuse. No safe or garage queens here.
