Boost Your Braking: ALCON RC6 & RC4 Setup for BMW F06 640i
As we all know, BMW never designed a retrofit brake system as an upgrade option for the previous generation 5 Series (F10) or the 6 Series (F06/F12/F13). Therefore, owners of these models looking to significantly enhance their braking performance often turn to options like the Brembo GT Brake Kit. Alternatively, as seen here on this BMW 6 Series F06 Gran Coupe, they can upgrade to the high-performance ALCON RC6 and RC4 brake systems.
The RC6 front brake system features 6-piston calipers paired with larger 400mm 2-piece floating discs. This setup provides a substantially increased friction surface area, delivering braking performance that is, of course, much stronger and more effective than the stock system. Despite the "big caliper with big discs" configuration, the RC6 utilizes a staggered 6-piston design (with pistons increasing in size). This helps to manage brake pressure, resulting in a more linear braking feel rather than an overly aggressive or abrupt response. Out back, the RC4 brake system uses a 4-piston opposed caliper, also fitted with larger 380mm 2-piece floating discs. With this perfectly matched front and rear setup, the braking capability of this F06 has been tremendously enhanced. The roads are filled with potential hazards and unexpected situations every single day. An extra layer of performance means an extra layer of safety. Beyond just regularly maintaining and servicing your braking system, why not consider upgrading to a high-performance setup for that added peace of mind? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
