I am always amazed how AI now sounds like corporate marketing crap. Or, is it the reverse?

I know some people love the "iconic" alpina wheels but i have always hated them and it ruined the otherwise lovely cars for me.

This “annoucement” posted here seems more like advertising rather than useful information for the BMW enthusiast. Are they a supporting vendor?

Alpina is part of BMW now and this announcement was an official press release from BMW which Bimmerpost reposted just like most other relevant press releases.

This is a slightly confusing post; BMW hasn’t acquired ALPINA per se, they’ve bought the name more than anything.
The Bovensiepen family, who dictated the engineering and direction of ALPINA past has nothing to do with it. I just hope they don’t water down that badge they way the have with M. |

Finally - a solution to the problem that did not exist!

Let’s hope this means there is a commitment to maintaining the ICE option for buyers who prefer it. At some point, like the manual transmission, the take rate will be so low it doesn’t make business sense to keep it. Would be odd to have that logo on a full EV.

Gives a "black edition " feel with the stark black and white. interesting. The red/blue di not seem to be too much of an overlap with M///
I just fantasized that this would be the ICE/6MT branding ha ha! ( it's passed now )

I’m aware it’s a refresh of the 60 year old logo. My point was Alpina decided to sell to BMW because the development costs were too high for them with BEV and PHEV. So using the logo on a BEV would be odd. And most (all?) of their target customers prefer ICE power trains anyway. I’m all in on a B5 GT with V8 if they bring it to the states.

I think the strategy with Alpina is to bring BMW into the ultra-luxury segment to compete with Bentley & Aston Martin.
Sadly, I wouldn’t hold my breath for a B5 Touring. Expect 7-Series & X7-X9 models at least initially. |
