Unfortunately I now have a similar problem and don’t want to start pulling the dash apart myself. Mine is a 640D F06 2015. When to work and all was good. Parked the car for the day. Returned in the evening and the display is blank apart from a couple of vertical lines.

2015 650i
Last year my dash went blank. I had gone away for a couple of weeks, when I got back the battery was low. I charged that up but the cluster wasn't working properly. Only a few idiot lights were on. THen next time I turned the car on, nada. The Heads up display wasn't working. I live in Canada. Took the car to my indy. Dash faulty, no good, not repairable, only replaceable. Quoted me $4600Cdn plus tax and install, so around $5,500 in total. Since it was an indy, and the part was electronic, he could not offer me a warranty. Further, if the part came in and was installed but didn't fix it, they would not give me a refund. Thanx, but no thanx. Went to the local dealer. Exact same diagnosis but I was ready for the sticker shock so simply said to please go ahead and order it. Also, and a bonus, two year warranty, further if it didn't fix the problem I wasn't on the hook. Now, I could have yelled at the poor guy on the phone giving me the bad news (ie $5500) but, as I said, I was ready for that so not upset or anything. Was told two weeks but got a call after only one week and it was all ready. When I went in the same guy I had dealt with was grinning from ear to ear. He had called BMW Canada who agreed to eat most of the cost. Maybe he did that cuz I wasn't mad at him on the phone. Goodwill I think (and maybe they know it's a common issue). So, the total cost was only $1,700 Cdn. Still a lot, but almost $3800 less. Now, however, I wish I'd seen this solution. Next time (God forbid), I will simply replace the boards. Update - SOLVED
Just a quick update, dash has been perfect since my original post, so all is good.
I have helped another forum member who purchased the same LED PANEL from the eBay link I posted, all fitted and working fine. WORD OF ADVICE - the two outer dials, fuel and oil temp, once positioned when refitting the PCB, gently push from the front of the panel where the displays show on each of the outer dials, you will hear a mild click and this tells you that the outer dials are correctly seated and you should not have the issues I faced. Hope this helps. |

Same thing happened to me a few months after I bought my 2015 650ix GC. Indy wanted more than $5000Cdn to fix it. And no guarantees it would work. Dealership wanted same. But in the end BMW Canada must have recognized it's an issue because they paid a lot of it. Went ahead and had it done. Final bill was about $1700Cdn IIRC. Still a heck of a lot.
So, I bought one of the above off ebay just in case this ever happens again. It's on a shelf cuz I just know it will happen. But at $200, it's a lot of piece of mind. |

I have the instrument cluster 6WA installed in my 640i . Now during the night time the orange background illumination starts flickering and disappears and reappears both on speedometer and rpm indicator. Any way of repairing it? I tried many things but no success.
My current idea is to replace it by the 6WB for approx 1000 EUR. Any opinions? |

Holt2498. How did you align the gas and temp gauges and them to work? I've tried twice now and the gauges are working. I'm fairly sure the are aligned. Was some else you did to get them to work?

Greetings,
I was able to swap out the old lcd panel for the new one in 6wb cluster but the light during the day is very low. I tried correcting it by changing DIM_DTN to 0x7F but had no luck. Kindly help |
