I have a friend... he doesn't know shit about cars... but knows the competition version is "higher spec". And I KNOW if/when I order a G80 6MT non comp, he's going to make a comment along the lines of "didn't go for the competition spec huh", not realizing that the 6MT doesn't come in competition spec. So there's going to be this whole explanation on my end about how I specifically wanted the 6MT and that doesn't come in competition spec.

I'd still rather go through that conversation as opposed to slapping a fake badge on. Just don't get why people feel the need to do it.....

One of my friends put those stupid M colored grille slats on his wife's base model X5.

Another friend just got a base X3 and wants to do the same.

I'm just so over BMW owners, and that's part of why I didn't get another. Outside this forum, not a single BMW owner I know is actually a car enthusiast. They are all badge/brand enthusiasts. That explains why BMW has made many of the decisions it has over the past decade.

At least there's the M division. I'd definitely return to BMW with an M2.
