Sadly I have an EVO HU, but from my point of view the best feature is HUD data for CarPlay. I'd love to see this in my 2018 G30 but sadly it's not possible.

Nope, pretty sure you don't have Idrive 7. This is not an update for idrive 6 or older. This only only updates people from an older version of Idrive 7 to a newer version of Idrive 7.

Anyone who has the July update test Waze and the heads up display? Any chance directions show up on HUD? I think today's video says the Carplay update supports all apps on HUD, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if that were true...

Aren't most M models usually 1 generation behind? Only M5/X5M and higher have iDrive 7 for 2020. Other models will have to wait for LCI (which is 2021 for the X3).

Idrive 7 became available on the 2020 X3, so the 2019 won't get this update. Even the 2020 X3 with idrive 7 won't get it over the air, it has to be dealer installed.

I did once it took me 20 mins (during this time you can't operate the vehicle

It does not start till Monday in Germany, it will then be released in stages across Europe so you could be looking at least 1-2 months before it hits NA if no issues are found.
