Ok, Bigjule111, I did see a youtube video showing wire tying the flap open. I have already purchase some stainless stell axel back throatier exhaust not knowing I did not have the flap on mine. At least I know now I can still use them by just tying the flap in the open position. I did buy the diffuser from an M6 because I was told it is a perfect fit and will give me the opening needed for the quad look.

Here's the link from the F10 forum how to make flaps functional on N55 (535i). Should be virtually the same on 640i.

I accidentally made this post on the M6.
I'm trying to do this mod and install a Vorsteiner diffuser. Does this piece need to be removed 51127223160? Seems like it does nothing but provide support for the previous diffuser which is no longer present. I tried to examine briefly and seems you can just move it back and forth but it's clipped onto something. Not sure. A friend of mine that did his mod on his 2014 didn't have this piece so we are both confused. Looking at the parts diagram, and looking this part number up, it seems it is only held up by 4 clips and 4 bolts at the bottom... an I missing something? Looking at the posts here seems a few members have done this mod on 640i snd 650i where this piece (51127223160) has been present. Any advise, suggestions, tips or tricks are welcomed! Yup ..that piece is a seperate piece .. I chose to buy a used oem carbon fiber piece from a m6 ....u can get the plastic piece that comes on the convertible m6. Alot cheaper u can't use the one from the 640 ! ..also you can buy the cheap carbon fiber complete bottom piece that gives u the quad cutout and has the middle piece of ebay . But fit may b a issue as it's 1 long piece . .. if u go that route u only need that 1 piece .. eBay has them shipping from china for like 300 bucks

I was wondering if part 51127223160 needs to be removed in order to install a deep channel diffuser such as the Vorsteiner one as it gets in the way of any clearance aside from the little covers.
I noticed a few of the mods here had that piece as well, and I'm guessing was cut flush where I highlighted in yellow or removed altogether. |

2014 640i
Hello 6post community,
I'm new here this is my first post. I own a 2014 640i. The car has the M package. If I wanted my car to have quad exhaust, what would be the appropriate steps to take in order for me to achieve that? I found some nice ones but I'm scared to buy it just in case it doesn't fit or what not. Would I lean towards a diffuser? Thanks! |

The only two pieces (besides the mufflers themselves) that you need are:
Rear trim panel (51128052677) to accommodate the quad exhaust https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/51128052677/ Rear diffuser bumper lip (6431223248810) Something like https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-Diffus...5/253195041707 You can also get these two pieces in one piece, but the fitment is apparently questionable. Something like https://www.ebmotor.com/product/rear...-2012up-b203f/ https://carbonfiberhoods.com/2011-20...ce-429958.html |

Guys thanks for the help, I appreciate it. I am asking a very specific question though.
I *already* have a Vorsteiner rear diffuser (As you can see it has not been installed thus far) I have *already* installed, painted and mounted part #51128052677 The problem I am running into is that part #51127223160 is in the way in terms of clearance of the diffuser. Regardless of weather it is bolted on or glued on, there is simply no clearance. Part #51127223160 not on the M6, although REALOEM does list it on the list. A simple look underneath rear bumper confirms this. My question is simple, do the people who have done this mod successfully, I can see part #51127223160 on your builds being present but then I see Vorsteiner or replicas installed. Did this piece need to come off or trimmed? |

2014 640i Quad exhaust help
Hi everyone,
I own a 2014 640i (gran coupe). It is M package so I have the M steering wheel, M rims.....etc. I was wondering what steps I would need to take to make my car have quad exhausts. Is it even possible on the 640i? |

Definitely possible. I just did it on mine ordered the tips off Amazon and had them installed. I also removed my resonator and muffler. I did change my lower bumper to the m6 style so that it has room for the quad tips. Make sure you order Y tips. If you get 4 single tips it's much harder, costly and the finished product won't be the same (possibly crooked)

Researching the heck out of this conversion method as I have a 2017 640 m sport and looking to do a same quad tip conversion. I do have some reservations though with going with an M6 exhaust. Anyone know if the M performance muffler can accommodate a y tip so i can fill in the space for the quad look? I also like the 3D design rear diffuser , but not paying +2K for just a diffuser. Plus I don't really care for the carbon fiber look. I prefer gloss black and keep it stealthy.

Is there a different part number for this lip? I cannot find anything from the part number you posted. I am trying to see what else I need to buy other than the lower valance (51128052677) to install m6 style diffusers on my 640i
51128050516 is this the lip you're talking about or this a different piece? Thanks Last edited by F-0H6; 01-02-2023 at 04:07 PM.. |

Indeed, I cannot find the rear diffuser anymore by the above part number. Here's the list of what I used bmw 51128052677 - Lower cover https://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/...er-51128052677 Part 22 is what you need from the diagram above. Maybe give BMW a call? Edit: I was able to find the rear diffuser that I purchased on eBay. Here's the link. https://www.ebay.com/itm/183037749697 bmw 51127223162 - lower deflector (small piece) https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/51127223162/ |
