Comp vs non comp
Time is coming to upgrade to an m6 in some guise or another, I'm wondering is the competition worth the extra and what are the actual differences, also what identifies the car as a competition? Have saw a couple advertised on autotrader as comps but with no exterior markings.
Is a comp more or less tuneable? As it's the same engine with more power no? Looking to change in April, but one has caught my eye today..

I only wanted the comp - black exhaust, different steering, suspension, and HP. Also, some have a different wheel package (mine has 601s which was a big reason I searched for one).

601m wheels are unique to the comp pack but you could get the other wheels if you optioned them - note the 343m are forged and lighter than the 601m or 433m.
All of the engine hardware is the same, they just upped the boost slightly and changed the suspension and steering components as mentioned above. There is no badge at all, you have to either look up the chassis number or be reliant on the black tips or dealer description - neither of which I would 100% rely on! |

I thought a comp was the only way to go until I realized I could buy a 2015 M6GC [non comp] for 41k. Perfect condition and had only 35k miles. Paid cash so was able to negotiate. So.... added catless pipes, and a sweet corsa axel back exhaust [sounds mean AF] and put a stage 2 DME tune on it. Havent dino yet but DME claims 200 hp add at crank so call it 775 HP at the crank [560+200 and change with mods] all mods cost me a few grand and were easy to install. All in under 45k and have a low mileage GC with crazy power. Figured why pay more just for the ceramic brakes?? Not a race track car and brembos are fine. Upgrade pads if you want for cheap!! Seriosly though 560 stock is nothing to be ashamed of and 30hp add is nothing. Just add 200

Comp package's added power is essentially useless. The extra 15 (40 on 2016+) all comes on at the top end of the rev band. Also read this, all topics are covered here:. https://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1500700

Does anyone have dyno numbers back to back for a M6 Comp and Non Comp? Has also anyone tracked both with numbers to really understand the difference? I am sure the difference can only, probably, felt on the track, if any, especially with the power band difference as shown by the BMW chart, identical torque and HP difference only between 6-7K rpm. It would be good info.

I have a F12 non comp pack car, and i prefer the non comp pack. i had the 19s on the F12 and its a very smooth ride. i have the 601m wheels as well for the F12 and its still ok. Driving a friend of mine's F13, the F13 it was a harsher ride with the comp pack springs. I did not notice a difference in steering feel to be honest between the two cars, and never cared about the power, as both cars were DME stage 2.
If you are going to leave the car stock and really care about re sale value get the comp pack. if you are going to modify it with wheels, suspension, exhaust, or a tune, go for the car that is a better deal which is usually the non comp pack. |

Really can't understand or agree with those who couldn't feel the difference between a comp and non comp. I almost fell for that crap and didn't test drive a comp but did anyway. It wasn't drastic but definitely noticeable. Noticeable enough, I wouldn't even consider a non comp regardless of price difference. Maybe I'm more sensitive to things than others. My suggestion, don't take anyone's words to heart. Go test drive both for yourself.

Normally, I would agree but that was nearly impossible to do when the cars were in production. Now, almost a couple years after production has ceased, I would imagine that test driving stock non-comp and comp is not an option. Probably why the OP is asking the question.

i track my m6 comp every now and then. On the street, i never thought the car could use stiffer springs. At the track, in the high speed stuff, you can actually feel the body roll - thats when I decided, the comp is just right. I can't imagine a non comp going through the same corners! So daily driving, you will never feel the difference other than maybe the steering rack - but in the higher speed aggressive driving scenarios, comp pack is way superior.
If you're daily driving 90% of the time and chasing twities/tracking, normal is fine. If the ratio is more towards spirited driving/tracking (like mine), then i'd for sure comp pack. Anyone that says otherwise hasn't driven a comp pack aggressively |

Steering rack is where it really made me realize they changed they made. Once again here, sports plus is to fake for me in both cars but the quicker response was in the comp in Sport. Still no E90 M3 feel which I loved but to be expected. These two factors were enough for me to choose the Comp. As I mentioned they weren't drastic but without a doubt recognizable. I also have owned 30 different vehicles in the last 17 years, four in the last year. So it could be I'm more sensitive to variations than others. I'm no expert driver, far from it, but have enough experience between vehicles to recognize subtle changes. Final note: The first to vehicles I test drove weren't up to date on maintenance. The non comp was the first I drove and I walked from it. Then I tried a comp real close by but private seller. I think he rented it out or something cause it was a higher mileage 15 that showed abuse. I then found two others, one I bought and another non comp that I compared above. Both were one owner vehicles, dealer maintained.

I went from standard to CP this year
You will not notice the tiny increase in power. You will notice 1. More steering feel thanks to firmer bushes 2. Stiffer springs and dampers. Surprising how much more grip this gives. 3. More noise - CP exhaust is a little louder especially on cold start and full throttle 4. Many have got CCB which is totally unnecessary but cool looking Google “M6 competition pack Evo” and you will find a great EVO magazine article which describes exactly the above. I totally concur with their findings |
