Disappointed there’s no light blue like Yas Marina Blue. Also, why would BMW make a GTI competitor and not bring it to the US? I thought the GTI is one of the better sellers here.

Probably because the market is slow and saturated, so doesn't make sense to introduce a new competitor. Not many people here would be interested in a more expensive GTI with no track record.

Whoa whoa whoa, can u please clarify on the seats? Do u mean to say the spy shots we've just been seeing are the standard ones or theyre the optional buckets?

Sorry, the latest photo is the optional buckets. I've edited my post. The key part is that they're coming to the States while all earlier M3s kept the coolest seats Euro-only.

Can anything be inferred around rough SOP for G80 considering the fact you are seeing color and interior data or are they not related?

I find it interesting that bmw would have this level of detail ready but SOP still be more than 12 months or even 15+ months away (late 2020 or even 2021 launch)

They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't have a manual option. I think something like 50% of GTI's are sold with a manual?

Cool. It makes me wonder if there will also be an N68 for M Performance vehicles (M*55i ?). That would make sense, since mild-hybridization of all BMW engines is likely to occur over the next few years.

The first M Performance PHEV vehicle is coming: M750Le xDrive.

So the question is - I6 or V8. They could theoretically swap the B58 O1 into the existing 45e drivetrain and get a 100hp increase straight away. And they could obviously get even more if they use a more powerful electric motor. That could put them right about on par with the N63 T3 used in today's M50i vehicles. Or they could go with a (detuned) N63 M3, similar to how the 45e uses a detuned B58 M1 (at least I think its still technically the M1), and, even with the electric assist, ends up at about the same power output as the B58 O1 by itself (though its more fuel efficient, of course, which is the whole point).

BMW is planning to offer the largest battery among all BEVs on the market at 120kWh. It will go into the model that we haven't seen yet, and I'm not yet going to speculate on the car itself.

My money would be on the iNEXT first, but any pure EV in the 5 Series range and above would be a candidate eventually, I'm sure.

I don't think we'll see the 120kWh pack in iNext, at least not initially.

S68 is new upcoming M engine mentioned in latest update - in the first post

I am also guessing that the S68 will have a smaller power output than the current S63tu4, and may even be a smaller displacement than 4.4L, but the drop in gasoline horsepower will be made up by the addition of an electric motor. The real question/challenge will be whether or not M can make a hybrid G90 M5 without increasing the overall curb weight over the current F90.

S68 will have the same displacement as S63 so as far as the total output the future looks bright.
