6WB Multifunctional Instrument Panel Retrofit
Hi everyone,
I am very happy to show you the latest upgrade we did for one of our customers a few days ago. We retrofitted the Multifunctional Instrument Panel in an F13 built when this cluster was not yet available. Thank you Hung for choosing BimmerTech! This retrofit can be done in the following models: F01, F02, F06, F10, F11, F12, F13. I think it looks just great!!! How do you guys like it? |

We can ship the instrument cluster directly to you and when you install it (10-minute job) we'll perform the final coding of your vehicle over the Internet. All you need is a Windows laptop with the Internet connection.
It's as simple as that For more details please send us an email with your VIN and location at info@bimmer-tech.net Pricing is available at www.bimmer-tech.net Thank you! |

I've recently bought a GC, I bought a pre-reg vehicle which meant I had to compromise on spec. To get LED headlights, HUD, sunroof, adaptive suspension, comfort seats, I had to give up on Surround view and Comfort access. I'm considering (in order of importance) retrofitting top view, comfort access, the new Nav and possibly the 6WD display. How would retrofitting these units affect my warranty? Also do you offer any rebate/buy back of the old Nav unit if I upgraded? WRT the new cluster, how would you compare it to the JAG XJ unit in respect of visibility in bright ambient light (I.e contrast/reflections)? Having used the XJ I'm double minded about going for such a display in the BMW. While the GFX and versatility are tempting, I am double minded as to wether the XBlack display has the right balance. I.E. key info like speed/revs/etc in analogue, with secondary info on a digital display. That way it's not as important when ambient lighting/reflections affect visibility, as its only the secondary info that's affected. The other thing I didn't like was the trail effect on the fast moving needles on the XJ display (not sure if it was due to the response time of the panel, or actually a deliberate effect coded into the GFX). Does the BMW unit present similar artifacts? Sorry for the long winded question, but there aren't any cars equipped with the new display local to me, so I can't check it out for myself. Sorry guys I have been in and out of town the past few weeks so I never got to update you guys on the 6WB. I will post some pictures later today.
Pros - 1. The different modes look great. Comfort mode is a little boring but sport and sport+ mode look so much better. Especially the gears in the middle. Eco mode looks really good too, but I rarely ever use it. In all modes the speedometer looks much better, the numbers get bigger as you speed up in comfort mode and eco and in sport mode it shows you the number in the middle of the circle. 2. Music info, phone info, voice info, is bigger and clearer. It's also higher up in the display so you don't have to look as far down. It shows you more songs or contacts at once as well. (will post picture soon) 3.Install is very simple it really is just like the video posted and there are two wires in the back that you disconnect. The hardest part was maneuvering it out and around the steering wheel. Bimmertech coded it in 10 minutes, might take a little longer if you don't already have the software on your computer. But all you have to do is connect your laptop to the car through usb (the cable comes in the box), they remote into your laptop and do everything from there. Cons 1. For right now you can't code extra info on the hud. So you won't have the music list, phone list, or lane change assistant on the hud anymore. You will have all the standard stuff though, speed, speed limit, nav, warning messages. This annoys me since I really got used to seeing everything on the HUD, but hopefully new data files in the future will include these features so that it can be coded. (this only affects people that have coded or have had their cars coded to display more info on their current HUD) 2. Lane change assistant is now tucked away in the right corner instead of being in the middle. I never really looked at it so it doesn't bug me, but if you do look at the lane change assistant a lot, you will be disappointed. 3. This bugs me but might not be a big deal to anyone else. The speed limit sign on the HUD changed. In the U.S. it used to show the white sign with the black border and the speed limit was in the middle with mph right under it. Now it has a white background with the speed limit in the middle but no black border or mph indication. Function wise it's still exactly the same, but it doesn't look as cool as it did before. The speed limit sign in the cluster does indicate mph though. I will update this when I get to drive more, I apologize that I am not that descriptive. English isn't my first language, and I am just not much of a detailed person at all. Hope this helps for now. Last edited by dsad1; 02-25-2013 at 06:49 PM.. |
