BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Earlier this week, we attended the US media launch for the 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe [official thread]. The M6 Gran Coupe features the same 560hp / 500 kb-ft powerplant as the M5 and M6 Coupe/Convertible and covers 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds. It starts in the U.S. at a base price of $113,000 for the 2014 model year [full pricing details].

The event was held in Austin, TX at the impressive Circuit of the America (COTA) Formula 1 race track. We'll be sharing our thoughts on the M6 Gran Coupe soon, but for now, have a gander at the various sights from Austin. Below, you'll see photos of the fleet of M6 Gran Coupes on hand for both track and road evaluation. Until now, BMW has only publicly displayed the M6 Gran Coupe in Frozen Silver (at the Auto Shows), but we now get a look at many of the factory colors available, including several Individual colors.

There are also photos from the reception at the W Hotel in downtown Austin, where a pristine M1 was on display together with a Frozen Silver M6 Gran Coupe. The M1 is owned by Mike Ura, who runs the BMW M1 Register and makes sure his M1 is not just a garage queen (even though it's conditioned like one) by driving and tracking it regularly.

Finally, there's a video of several M6 Gran Coupes taking us on a tour around the Circuit of the Americas track, as well as a demo preview video we shot of the upcoming BMW M Power App.

Very nice!

We had a great time yesterday; just listening to the TTV8 under WOT is music in motion!

Glad to hear! How many M5POST guys were there with you?

Agreed, the sounds of the cars tearing down the back straight and bouncing off the grand stand was

I just realized the M6GC doesn't have a shark fin. Where are the contents of the shark fin located?

Phenomenal shots Jason! I'm so glad to have these pics of that epic track experience. Sure wish we had been able to take the M3 out there too! Very jealous of your upcoming weekend Bokke

I like the M6GC better than the M6. Although, I'd rather have the M5 over all the M6 options.

Saw the frozen silver m6 gc in the W hotel garage a couple hours ago, had to stop to take a look. Beautiful car, I just wish they would get rid of the silver plastic on the gear box. The 650 gc gearbox looks much better in my opinion.

The Thursday group consisted of:
Richard in NC
Stealth.Pilot
Greer

Maybe a few others I didn't catch their screen name.

The Frozen Silver/Canyon Brown combo was sharp, but my favorite is San Marino Blue/Silverstone.

No 6ers have shark fins incl the e63. The contents are integrated into the trunk lid

How do you compare driving it to the previous Ms? I just think the GC is way to big to be a track rat and doesnt need the power of the M, but regardless im sure it was fun to drive.....

Beautiful pix and professional coverage as always. The exterior of the car is nice but nothing special, wheels suck, and the interior is pretty busy. Overall, I don't exactly where this car is supposed to fit in the line up. What is next a 3 series Gran Coupe?

I had the opportunity to ride with Mike Renner from BMW Performance Center in an M5 around COTA as part of the Texas Trifecta event put on by BMW CCA this weekend at COTA. All I can say is wow. Even these big heavy cars like the M5 and M6 can move around a track like you would not believe. He had it in a full on drift around turn 15 (for which we got flagged by a corner worker...).
