BMW Introduces 6 Series Gran Coupe to the Ring

The upcoming 6 series Gran Coupe, a 4-door coupe model of the current 6 series, has been spotted by our spies testing on the Nurburgring for the first time. Although the Gran Coupe will be a grand touring type car, it's still being tested on the Nurburgring to ensure that it will deliver a sporty, yet luxurious ride. It's pictured here wearing BMW style 356 wheels, which look rather nice and sporty on the Gran Coupe.

The low slung and sleek Gran Coupe will take on the likes of the Mercedes CLS and Audi A7. Current expectation is for the Gran Coupe to hit showrooms in 2012 as a 2013 Model Year vehicle. Engine range is expected to be identical to the 6-Series Coupe.

just saw an A7 up close and personal today, gorgeous, solid and smartly developed car. never been a fan of the CLS, always thought it looked "smushed"

7 series is probably bigger inside with more legroom/headroom. 7 series buyers like the extra room, which competes with S-class, etc.

On the contrary, there has long been word of a possible M6 Gran Coupe in 2013, which would make it the flagship M car.

The grand coupe is really coming together nicely imo, it will do great imo!

Looks like a torpedo. Also, I'm pretty sure the m version of this car has been confirmed as the new flagship of BMW with more hp than the new m5/m6

The M6 Gran Coupe will arrive in 2013 and within that time the M5 will be celebrating it's 2nd birthday. So it fits in the M range with logical progression to arrive on the market with something new and a bit more ooomph!

This car does nothing for me at all. It's very boring looking. It looks like they added 2 doors and called it a day. The CLS and A7 are far nicer than the 6 grand coupe.

Because Mercedes has the S-Class and the CLS, so BMW feels the need to be in both places, too. Although, 4-door "coupes" are just lame sedans with crappy headroom for the back passengers... except for the Aston Rapide.

That's surprising. I'm assuming models like a M Gran Coupe goes back to the article mentioned earlier in the year that these models along with the X5M and X6M (don't remember) are "small" products that provide "funding" to BMW M or something like that? I mean of course there will be someone to buy if the car was made but not in high quantities like the M3 and possibly the M5?
