BIMMERPOST NEWS2012 BMW M6 Coupe Bumpers Finally Show! Crashes at Nurburgring The 2012 BMW M6 has dropped some camouflage, revealing much of its front and rear bumper/diffuser styling for the first time. Although not very radical in design, the M6 front bumper appears to be a bit more aggressive than the F10 M5's front bumper -- with larger and more prominent 'fins' coming out/down from the bumper. The result is a combination of the F10 M5 and E85 Z4 M Roadster bumpers. The rear diffuser also features some aggressive styling, with prominent fins in the rear as well. The M6 coupe may also be featuring a carbon fiber roof, as the roof's camouflage still remains. The occasion unfortunately ended with a crash. Today marked the beginning of testing week at the Nurburgring and while most of the M6's testing run was in the dry, the last 4 kilometers were in the wet. While negotiating the 'Galgenkopf' corner, the M6 coupe lost control and crashed into the barrier. The driver was OK, but the car was disabled and had to be towed back to BMW's M test center at the ring. The 2012 M6 coupe will share the same 560hp 4.4L Twin Scroll Twin Turbo V8 from the recently revealed F10 M5 (internally dubbed the S63Tu engine). There's no final word on debut and availability of the BMW F13 M6 but we expect BMW to officially unveil the M6 in early 2012 with a market launch later in 2012. Looking good! Sucks that it crashed though. I wonder what that says about the traction control of it...

But it does look good, much better than the E63 IMO.

Yea, I know that. Also, I really don't know the ring at all, but the only pics that were posted the car looked spotless (well, aside from the swirly paint and the broken rear end). That makes me guess that it was a controlled situation. This again leads me to believe that either it was a TC issue, or the driver was going too fast in the wet. One final thing, since it was being driven around the race track, I doubt that the TC was on. |

Glad the driver was ok...he may be a little red faced depending on the circumstances of the crash.
As for the speculation on TC, how can we know? It's perfectly logical that BMW would want to test DSC etc in track conditions to fine tune the system's ability to handle the car at its limits. So it may have been on. It may have been off if the purpose of the test was to test the car's ultimate limits. Only the testing team know. |

Looks good. So far, the best looking M out of the "newer" generation BMW.
