2012 BMW M6 Coupe Hits the Ring Sporting Ceramic Brakes

The M6 coupe coupe prototype has once again taken to the Nurburgring for some serious performance testing.

Although much of the front fascia remains covered in camouflage tape, it will resemble the recently revealed 6-series Coupe (official info and photos), but with an M styled bumper of course. The front brakes feature huge calipers with cross drilled rotors front and rear. Traditional quad exhausts are seen at the rear, surrounded by a still-camouflaged rear bumper which will also sport M-styling. The camouflage on the roof could possibly also indicate the presence of a carbon fiber roof underneath.

Like the upcoming M5, the M6 will be receiving a ceramic brakes option, seen for the first time on the upcoming M6 in these photos.

The 2013 M6 will share the same motor and drivetrain as the upcoming M5 - a tuned version of the turbocharged 8 cylinder motor from the X5 and X6 M (the BMW S63 engine, a 4.4L twin turbo, twin scroll, direct injection).

There's no final word on debut and availability of the BMW M6 but we expect BMW to officially unveil the M6 in early 2012 with a market launch later in 2012.

We've also reposted some of the recent M6 convertible photos as the cabrio is further ahead in terms of camouflage stages and more revealing.

I 100% agree it looks angry. The headlights and front stance just look mean. Opposite of angry is the Mazda 3, big gaping mouth and smile.

For me the 6 series is love/hate. Very beautiful and lots of power, but perhaps too big.
