The concept car looked so much better. The test mule looks too plain. The updated CLS looks better IMHO. Hopefully the final product from BMW looks better.

The start of layered surfacing perhaps? The LED lamps in the front bumper seem to be on the same 'surface' layer, while the 'frame' of the nose section is pushed out further. Its also interesting to see hints of the crease in the front wing that has become more pronounced on the new 3 series too.

As of now, CLS is out in the open, the 6 GC is only in beta stage with heavy camo on, i'm pretty certain when it's done, and we see the official pics, it will make a mighty impression imo. A7 is not in this class at all imo, it's to fugly.

I have been waiting for this car since the CS concept was presented. This is a dreamy car and to me it is as beautiful as it gets. It's pure harmony, proportion, controlled agression and elegance. I can't believe someone can think this is an ugly car. I mean, the new 1-Series IS definitely an ugly car but this? This is beautiful and sleek. Now, imagine the M6 GC with some 560-580hp!!! Who needs the M5 after this!!!!

Hmmm, There was a mention somewhere about a 5-series coupe and convertible possibility. Unlikely I think but there is rendering around. I would love it of course, I guess it would slot under the 6-Series coupe as a roomier, cheeper alternative. Likewise the convertible.
Now, a coupe 7-Series, I would have thought the 6-Series coupe roughly fills that role atm since it is based on the same platform. Perhaps there is room for a bigger coupe (Audi supposedly plans to do an A9 or A8 coupe?) a la Mercedes CL but then again the CL supposedly competes with the 6-Series even though they are different cars in my opinion. Same with the Mercedes SL and 6-Series convertible. People compare them but they are different cars. |

Can you tell any differences between the concept and the test car? They look pretty similar to me. Only changes I can see are mirrors, rims, non-smoked windows, front and rear bumpers. The roofline seems very similar too though the slope looks an idea sharper on the rear door in the test vehicle somehow. As if the rear doors are slightly smaller compared to the concept. Or the belt line is slightly higher. The headlights look similar too, except for the blue-ish ambience and that they don't crease as much above the indicators.

I will take one of these over the gran coupe
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take_road_test twin turbo V8 that the next M3 and X3M should get (but won't), 4,150 lb car 0-60 in 4.2 with 402 HP and 443lb torque! I doubt the 6 series Gran Coupe will match it and the CLS is going to be a decent amount less $$ than the BMW. Base price is $72K, the 6 series convertible is $90K to start, Gran Coupe will probably be close to that, $15K+ over the CLS550 on a side note, if a 4,150 pound car without AWD can hit 0-60 in 4.2 seconds with a twin turbo V8 like this one and gets 18/26 MPG US, why wouldn't BMW have used an engine like this in their next X3M/M3? thats the same weight of the X3M but with AWD, the M3 would shed a ton of weight on that and be a rocket with 3.7 0-60 times (maybe with a power boost to 450HP) |
