Active Autowerke Catted Downpipe CEL

So I have had the downpipe on for about 2 weeks now, exceeded their required break in period by 3 days / 40 miles. I had some spirited driving on the 4th day and everything has been fine. Since that day I have been very casually driving, just daily cruises to work. I received the CEL this afternoon leaving work. I did try to clear it with my Torque Pro app but no luck. Hoping that when I get my WIFI adapter I clear it with my no license MHD app or XHP app. Did reach out today to Active to see how they handle replacements.

There's been a couple threads here regarding this. I think loose connections may have been an issue. Regardless, AA is very responsive and should be able to resolve.

I also have the AA downpipe and had a check engine light come on twice in the first week after installation. Followed break-in instructions exactly. Both times it went away after 24hrs and it hasn't been back in a few thousand miles. All connections were good. If I had to guess, it was probably still breaking in...

Curious what their reply is? They are a great company and I've had their products before

Hey by your user name I see your in Broward County? I had the same issue with my 2020 and I cleared it numerous times, but it still came back. I then decided to take the car directly to Active, and on that very same day the check engine light went away. It lasted for at least two weeks, but I only drive my car on the weekend.

I do live in Broward County, good catch. The CEL has been on for 4 days and no response from Active but, it is the holidays. Wish I had a way to clear it, to see if it comes back. Went over all connections again everything was good.

So I was watching a video to see what app's can clear BMW DTC codes and I found one called OBD Fusion, which worked on a BMW M3 for Downpipes. Went out to go clear the code and the CEL turned off. So lets see if it comes back on.

Had the same issue, break in period seemed to last more than just 40 miles. Had to clear the code a few times. First it was P0420 code, then it was cat inefficiency code, since I’ve cleared the last code (knock on wood) no issues. It’s been a few tanks of gas and feel a bit more comfortable that the break in period is behind me.

For what it’s worth AA offered a full replacement when I was in contact with them through mike@x-ph.com and his team. All around great service and they stand behind the product.

Have been using the Foxwell unit to read and clear codes if you’re looking for a unit for BMW… you can find it on Amazon under “FOXWELL NT510 Elite fit for BMW OBD2 Scanner Full System Car Scan Tool.”

Drove over to a friend's house yesterday, just a cruise no pulls. Before I left I revved the engine a couple of times to show him how the stock exhaust sounds with the downpipe. On my way home the light came back on. I scanned the car when I got home and P0420 again, good thing I was able to clear it. Now that I can clear it I feel little better letting the cat run through its paces to see if it eventually stops causing the CEL.
