Hi wonder if anyone can help, the front parking sensors only seem to activate when in parking mode which is automatically engaged when reversing. But when I’m just manoeuvring forward and come close to the wall the front parking sensors don’t engage. Can someone help please?

I would of thought they can be engaged at all times without being in parking mode.

No worries something I will have to get use to then, the sensors came on automatically when close to an object in my last car.

Pre LCI iX3 here and yes, when maneuvering slowly the front parking sensors do automatically activate.

Do you have the option for automatically enabling parking assistant turned on?

They are pretty useless though. They don't activate until you are very close and if you are doing any more than an absolute crawl you will have hit it before you have time to react to the alert sound.

There's a setting for this - in the iDrive menu go to Car --> Settings --> Driver Assistance --> Parking and manoeuvring --> Automatic PDC activation. Tick the box and it'll come on automatically when you approach a wall etc. However, I agree with @EVFan that they come on too late.

I tried it earlier - less than 3 feet before the beeps start.

Hi yeah I already had this activated but still thought I had missed a setting, agree with u and EV that they activate way too late. I’ve also activated emergency braking when close to an object so hopefully this kicks in if I go beyond the 3 feet warning.
