Anyone have details of the service schedule on the ix3 and how much servicing is in the UK?
It’s my first electric car so I’m clueless!

It’s been a while since I owned a BMW let alone an electric car ha ha

All I know is there is a ‘service’ due 2 years from build date, no idea what’s involved though

If it's like the i3 it'll be brake pads/fluid, air con/filters and at year 4 they will try to get the air con regassed or whatever it's called. I expect as their servicing profits fall as more and more people move to electric the stealers will find more and more things that need doing….

I can see why AC will be given specific attention in a BEV. Battery temperature needs to regulated and kept in the correct range.

If it is anything like the i3, you will hardly have time for a coffee. I have gone for the monthly service plan at £15 a month which includes 2 main services including all fluids (dealers will try and suggest otherwise); 6 monthly inspections and a free MOT/warranty inspection at 3 years. It is based on 4years/40000 miles/2 yearly servicing. If memory serves, the i3 4 year servicing plan was the same price and that was 6 years ago.

They also wash and vac the car.

It is interesting how times have changed. My first i3 servicing just over 4 years ago was a 2 day affair. The car had to be fully charged and left connected to BMW’s servers for a system fault check and firmware updates.

Interesting how bmw uk have ditched up front service plans and gone for monthly plans yet in Europe they still offer service plans

The biggest risk to brakes on an EV is rust not wear. There are reports on a US forum of i3s with many thousands of miles still on their original brake pads with no discernible wear. The pads on an i3 are very thin in comparison to most BMWs.

Would definitely be my issue up here and is one key area where I'm put off EV. I'd be adapting to one pedal driving for efficiency.

Premature brake replacement is the weak point in my driving anyway, corrosion ruins discs way ahead of pad wear. Last front set came off with 9mm of pad remaining.

The 225xe I've got gets brake glaze over pretty easily, but the car does 'tap' the brakes to clear the pads and disks of buildup at low speeds, you can feel it slightly tapping them every now and again when just rolling at 10mph or so. Not enough to slow you down, but if you have the windows open you can hear them doing it, and if you left foot brake so have foot resting on the pedal for any reason you can sort of feel it pulse through the pedal.

Here in Holland first service is after 2 yrs from first road access. Will refresh brake fluid and check air-con.

Wear on break pads will be minimal as braking is done regaining electrical power. Best way here is drive in B-mode. Will save even more in money then

Same in UK. I'm a bit surprised there isn't a milage limit too though. The rate on going I'll be about 60000 miles after 2 years 😬

Looking at my servicing plan, it is 2years/20000 miles; 4 years/40000 miles.

A lot of the other components are subject to condition based servicing; eg; brake pads.

Ah right the car doesn't say that but that's probably about right
