Alignment for ARS/Dynamic Drive

Out of curiosity, is there a special method or procedure for aligning cars that are equipped with Active Roll Stabilization (ARS)?

I would like to get a wheel alignment, but i’m just curious if there is a special procedure to align cars with the system? This is so I know whether to take the car to the dealership or being comfortable with my independent mechanic.

Thanks 😊

Not that I am aware of. My car has it and nothing special was mentioned to me when I got it aligned after I bought it. And I've never heard it mentioned, although that option is pretty rare.

Nope, no special requirements at all. Edit: retracted previous statement about it being more common than thought.

I can't speak to all years or other countries, but adaptive drive sure is not standard in the US. People look and try to find a car with it and give up. It was about a $3,000 option on my window sticker, and I've only seen maybe 2 other convertibles that have it. Cars come standard with dynamic dampers, but if the car has ARS the dynamic damper option code disappears and a new code called Adaptive Drive is added.

Your comment about pre-LCI made me curious so I randomly decoded several pre-LCI VINs for coupes, GCs and convertibles. All have code 233 (Dynamic Damper Control) and none have 2VA (Adaptive Drive). So at least in the US I'll stick to what I have said before - the option is very rare.

You, Sir, leave me standing corrected. Adaptive Drive was standard in the 650i at least in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand but an option in most other markets...even at launch. Mine is a 2011 built 650i, UK spec and has 2VA which would have been a paid option.
