It was stated over here already quite some time ago that the X4 M40i and M2 both will feature the N55B30T0 engine.

I don't think so, at least for the M2. And I base that on a response made by Scott26 on 3/25/'15, in another forum.
A poster (referring to a 3/25/'15 still shot of an M2 mule on the "Ring") made a comment about the shift paddles which were visible in the photo. He noted: "they don't look like 8hp paddles ... rather like DKG paddles... because they are longer." Scott26 responded: "And you would be right." The obvious conclusion is the mule was equipped with the DCT. Now, (like so many of his other inconclusive remarks) whether or not that response can be extended to production M2s is an open question. But, I chose to interpret it to mean the M2 will have a DCT option. |

Scott once told us that the M2 was seen in Donington grey, in fact it was mineral grey. I saw DG last week on an X6M and its NOTHING like mineral grey.. |

Anything's possible, I suppose. But I've read in more than one place that a DCT equipped M2 would, from a performance standpoint, separate the car from the M235i in a convincing way. An outcome, I think, BMW is looking for.

Have you driven the ZF8? It's pretty fast for just being an auto tranny. Compared to the DCT from my E90 M3 there is not much in it.

Although this DCT Vs. ZF8 thread was done in 2013, the technical expertise of the participants in the discussion makes it a fascinating read. If you're interested in the details of how the DCT works, make sure you look at post 54. The poster claimed the video answers all questions. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=984746 |
