HAha youre right, its an archaic term...just like "that's a doosey" which stems from people's awe when the Dusenberg car first came out.

What's a Dusenberg?

Oh. Wait. They were manufactured in Germany, right?

Kidding. Just kidding.

The Cord/Auburn/Dusenberg Museum in Auburn, IN is well worth a day if you're ever in the area-- I took my dad there as a day trip when we were visiting the AF Museum in Dayton, OH for a few days. (And THAT'S a museum that's worth traveling from anywhere in the world for.)

So we should now say "That's a G80"?

Wow I wasn't expecting it to look good. I like it!

It does look like a z4 in the front with a bit of Jaguar F type mixed into the hips but I actually think it looks great and far less awkward than the current 2 which never looked quire right to me.

Hehe it's also used in to denote something bad as well (in a modern context at least) so I figured it would be a good way to describe G80 since it's so polarizing!

Oh, is that right?

haha The more you know!

BTW I saw the g80 in person on the road again and the front grills are still offensive....can't grow to like it.

The g87 m2 will have to impress me or I'm going Tesla =)

A swing and a miss!! Not on this one, on the big-brother. Had they put this front end treatment on the G8x, they'd have had yet another ticket to my bank-accounts.

Love the render, super aggressive - even if the headlights themselves aren't my favorite, the nose could have been well worse. Kind of hoping this is true-to-production, as it's got a lot of M8 in the front clip, exactly what us F8x lovers were hoping was in store for the 4-door successor.

Yikes. The pointy part of the headlights is awful. Same with the front bumper. I'd be disappointed with this design.

Exactly. Just cover that thankfully small kidneys and tell me which part of the missing round halos screams "BMW?" None…

How do you tell people your opinion on performance cars should not be trusted without actually saying “my opinion on sports cars should not be trusted…”

BMW is moving on from the “round” halos on all there cars. This is not new. What is new in the single beam headlight. Maybe they are harkening back to before the dual beam. Think pre E30. They were not always dual beam.

The BMW 2002 Hommage (see here): presented in 2016 - and not forgotten.
("Occupying centre stage at the front end is the familiar BMW kidney grille. Here, it takes the form of a low-standing, connected unit, offering a flesh slant on the kidneys’ historical rendering as a cohesive design element. Sculpted, black double-bars add finesse to the details of the broad-set grille. Like the BMW 2002, the BMW 2002 Hommage also has two single headlights that provide the striking front end with its outer limits.")

The front reminds me of a Kia and the boxier look is not great in my opinion. If this is the last major M2 update we get before electrification I'm keeping my F87.

This is what I meant, why didn't BMW use the Vision M Next Concept grill for M3/M4 and now the new M2?

Wouldn't it look better? To me it does. Of course lights and bumper would have to be modified more to fit better together, etc but this grill to me is much better than the horrible vertical grills. Sorry that my Photoshop skills suck but it is an idea, maybe someone can do it better or even try this grill on the new M2 render. Thanks.
