Help!!! Reduced Power 640D - Lever arm error detection - 2C3200 - Swirl flaps

Hi Guys,

I am receiving the following issue with my 2013 BMW 640D Grancoupe M Sport. Whilst driving, I start the engine and immediately feel that there is reduced power. The engine sounds noisy however no error codes are displayed on the cars dash.
If I pull over, turn the car off and on then the fault stops and my car is back to normal with full power and nice and quiet.

When the car is plugged in the diagnostic system, it returns the following code:
"System Type: ENGINE SYSTEM TEST/VALUES Name: N57 - DDE 7.X - 3.0L - 230 (313) DTC: 2C3200,Flushing damper control: Mechanical defect (lever arm error detection)"
I have been told that this is to do with the swirl flaps on the car.

The car has been to a BMW specialist multiple times and the manifold and swirl flaps were fully cleaned as they had lots of build up. This is did not solve the fault so the Inlet Manifold Swirl Flap Actuator/Motor Part No. 8570791 was replaced for a new one and still no luck!
The fault is consistent is the fact that every time the engine is started, it is noisy with reduced power. Once the engine is restarted then it is back to normal.

Any ideas please?

I replaced the manifold adjuster and the apatation nothing helps error breaks all the time

Had the manifold off several times, replaced the controller and still get the error

I recently had the exact same issue on my 2014 640d. I removed the inlet manifold and cleaned all the carbon deposits of it so the swirl flaps moved freely. It took a couple of hours but it was easy enough to get the manifold looking like new with a bit of petrol, brake cleaner and a pressure washer. The next bit is you must fabricate a new stop point on the swirl flap actuator. The fault code activates when the swirl flap motor does a full actuation from open to closed swirl flaps and Due to wear in the linkages the actuator moves further than it expects and throws the fault code thinking the mechanism has fallen off. On mine I put in a new stop point which stopped the actuator arm going all the way back to its natural stop point by about 10 degrees but still allowed the flaps to fully open. I then built it all up and reset the air mass adaptions and the car now runs faultlessly. Power is smoother with much better torque low down.

Just a quick question by removing the swirl flaps how does this affect the fuel economy?
I’m thinking of having mine removed but I was told it will reduce mpg is this true?
Also got the same issue as original post however whilst inlet manifold is off was thinking of removing flaps at same time, I have the issue with the stop point on the swirl flap actuator

no,mpg is fine when blanked
