It was not a good movie, and I'm a big John Carpenter fan. Love Halloween, love the thing, love big trouble in Little China. Really looked forward to seeing this movie before It came out, and it disappointed.

I don't think this is factually accurate. There are certainly a lot of politicians out there who are in it solely for their own personal gain - trump being the number 1 prime example - but there are a lot who are in public service for the right reasons doing the best they can do to ACTUALLY make America (or at least their corner of it) better.

Not sure who you are talking about. I certainly don't expect them to fix my personal problems, but I do expect them to provide necessary governmental services without interruption - i.e. I expect them to DO their jobs...

This.

The main goal for them is getting re-elected, no matter what that means for the people they serve. Every political office should have term limits. Some of the town meetings I go to are insane. They have people sitting on the boards who are 80 years old and think kids should be using chalkboards because computers are too expensive and that's what they used in 1940.

You can't be serious. This is the biggest club of ne'er do wells in this country.

If you ever have any question about this refer yourself back to the decision to EXCLUDE themselves from the provisions of the Affordable Care Act. Oh...and if that isn't good enough, remember that they're still getting paid during the government shutdown. They excluded themselves from it's repercussions.

I suggest you call your two senators as well as your house representatives and ask if they are taking their paychecks. When you get that answer, come back and post how selfless they are for all the world to see.

BP OT eagerly awaits your response! I'd love to be proven wrong in this case.

Ok, so just to make sure I understand where you are coming from here... you sincerely believe that there are literally no elected officials looking out for the best interests of their constituents? Zero. Not a single one?

Can we agree to stipulate the fact that you are not a numbers guy? Because I don't know in what world 5-10% is "a lot" as expressed in percentage form. So I don't think he proved you right...

We can absolutely stipulate that - because it is fact!

Also, "a lot" is an imprecise and relative measurement, but the 5-10% figure wasn't mine, and I think it is a little low.

But even 5-10% might be a lot if congress is as full of self serving assholes as most people seem to think it is. In the end though, 5-10% is more than zero, which is why I said he proved me right (with a appropriate emojis to show that I was having fun...).

(2) 5-10% is not 'a lot' in any context.

(3) To be expected, I guess. Refer to number 1.
