M5 and M6 Mufflers

I'm looking to install a M5 muffler on my 650i GC and I was wondering how difficult the process for this would be. I've seen that it's been done before but I saw that there were hangers and vacuums lines to be moved. Is it a hassle to install the mufflers? Looking between a M5/6 muffler or muffler delete with a exhaust meister/valve setup. How do these compare in sound and ease of installation? Would it just be easier to go for the muffler delete and valve setup or M mufflers?

Thanks,

Try zip tying your existing valves open. YouTube has videos on how. It makes some difference, and it's basically free. I cut mine due to getting a tune and downpipes which made the stock system super loud.

I've tried zip tying them with but they eventually came undone after a while. The sound was louder under acceleration but I feel like I want more. The cabin of this car is so insulated it often difficult to hear anything at all with the windows up.

While I love the sound my car makes with the M6 mufflers, they are not much louder than the stock Msport. You may want to look at the Megan Racing mufflers. They are not that expensive, but are well made and will be a bit louder than the M5/M6 mufflers, no valves though.

Yeah that's odd. I noticed that too, there was more drone in comfort mode than in Sport+ mode. I had a 535i before and although they share the same engine the 640i sounded a lot better when I was checking it out.

If you want a large change in sound try new downpipes, mine are catless and with the tune it screams through tunnels and under acceleration but doesn't drone with the stock msport mufflers. It was less than 2k which is less than many Dinan or other exhaust systems and I got a ton of HP/TQ.

It's because in comfort car runs at lower rpm...

Just got a muffler delete done with black quad tips. Some drone especially around 2k RPM but otherwise it's not that bad. Definitely louder than stock but I feel like it could be louder. The car screams when hard accelerating, with slight drone driving normally. I think it'll definitely be loud enough for me when I get the down pipes but I don't know if that'll give it a deeper sound. Might replace the middle with a true X or H pipe and see how it sounds.

I went with M6 mufflers on my 650 m sport, and I felt like it was the perfect increase in sound. I also use the zip tie method. With either the windows or moonroof cracked you definitely hear the exhaust. There are some nice pops and gurgles on upshifts and deceleration. Like others have said, there is a slight drone in comfort mode, but sport mode fixes that.

As far as the install, there may be some issues with the hangers in which I'm not sure if it makes a difference if say going from M6 coupe or M5 mufflers to a gran coupe. However, any decent muffler shop can handle it.
