B6 vs. 650
I have always wanted to try a B6 Alpina and one came up for sale at a local dealership. It was two years newer than mine and had substantially less mileage on it and the price difference between the trade-in of my car and the price of the the B6 was about 47K plus tax.
I went down to the dealer for a road test and it does have a different feel than the 650. It is very powerful and all that extra torque is noticeable. However, the car feels heavier and in many ways, the 650 is just as luxurious and is a better drivers car with a more nimble feel. While the B6 is a very special car, I would not spend all that extra money to buy it, especially that my car is fully warrantied until summer, 2022. After that, who knows Last edited by LisaLannister; 10-28-2020 at 06:35 PM.. |

If you choose to buy F06/12/13 chassi you are up to get some luxurius ride, because of the high weight that chassi is very hard to turn to a 'real' sports car what ever you lay under the bonnet.
I was just yesterday enjoying my car, my 3.0 D engine is std ( egr delete), shift points has lowered a bit, it cruises really nicely with low rpms. Even I've Eibach springs ( those are comfy sporty) the whole is flying like a carpet while I've 'soft' tires and as low weighting rims as possible. |

What is this xHP tune you speak of. I have BM3 stage 2 with catless DPs and a cold air intake. Does the transmission tune make any difference?

I actually like the way the 650 xDrive M sport package looks way better than the Alpina. I think the Alpina Wheels look lame and they are heavier than a pile of bricks. |

Yes, any mod will void that components warranty.

As others have mentioned the B6 is based on a non M-sport model and Alpina just tacked on some bumper kits. I agree that the 650 M sport is the better looking car. That being said, there is a place for the B6. The M6 is suspension is tuned to be more firm aka racy and of course its not available in all wheel drive. So if you want/need 650 comfort, but want M6 power (without going w/aftermarket tunes, etc.) the B6 is a nice alternative.

The Alpina is about 200 pounds heavier than the 650 Gran Coupe xDrive.
