You guys laugh at me and my annoyance with the electronics. Here's a thread about the instrument clusters going blank in the current X5/X6s.

Meh. I haven't had a single incident like that, though I don't have an X5 or X6. Presumably the electronics are similar, if not the same.

I've been living with the all digital instrument clusters for a while now with different cars and have just gotten used to them. They're actually convenient if you know how to utilize them.

If they only offered 8-track decks still. Wrong thread?

I don’t have a problem with the idrive, I have a problem with all the tech nonsense for people that don’t pay attention. A good example is lane departure. My old lane departure would vibrate the steering wheel if I veered out of my lane. If I veer out of my lane it is intentional to either dodge potholes or someone else veering into me. Plus the roads here suck with construction lane markings. They never get rid of the temporary markings so the car gets confused. My new lane departure automatically jerks you back into your lane. I was going around someone that was making a left in front of me and the damn car was pulling me back towards said car. So now my lane departure is off because there is no way to have it on with the automatic correction disabled. The vibration alone was sufficient. Get off my lawn!

Okay that I feel you on completely. I do have custom settings with the nanny - even loaner car first thing I do is hold that button down until the menu pops up and tweak all the settings. Don't need the car yanking the wheel back for me. Maybe I was trying to change lanes without signaling, damnit!! Let me live!!

I wonder if there's any features you don't know about yet though, lol. I always wonder about those that started off turning the crank on their model T and now have massaging seats and heads up display.

Give yourself some credit. Lucille Ball doesn't do it for me.

Now, cmyx6go? Totally different story.

I got one for today - older woman driver creeping into turning lane as traffic is going by, almost hit me.
all warning sensors lit up noisily - car ahead, car to side, etc - i reverted to my track mentality, sped up swerving to avoid etc, while engaging regular and engine braking in quick succession.
still uncomfortable - but all's well that ends well (though i will say rude things to that person if i ever remember and encounter them)

Walked a few miles today. Was late spring warm. Got some cool stuff installed in the house and didn't screw anything up. Always a plus.
