Left Fuel Tank Sender - WHERE?
Can anyone help me locate where the Left Fuel Tank sensor is?
I pulled the main fuel pump cover to the tank. It appears the main sender is deep inside the tank. But there is no LEFT side (driver US side) access plate that I can identify. Anyone know where this is? Mine is showing a SHORT on the left tank... and it's getting frustrating. Thanks

Right. that's kinda correct. When I pulled the top plate and pulled the tank cover (6), the main level (5) is mounted somewhere inside the tank. One pair of wires goes to it. However, another pair of wires is also attached to the same plug (not shown). I am assuming that could be the 2nd level sensor. They both ohm out about the same.
Both set of wires are Yellow with various color stripes. Also, my car is throwing a failed LEFT tank sensor and the test mode shows it as 0Liters (65535 ohms) - which is a short to positive. Ok, next question. Does anyone know where the tank sensors are connected to? Body module and location? Maybe I have a crimped wire. Thanks

This is interesting...as mentioned already...the part database only shows one level sensor. I pulled up the f01, f13, and f10 just to check several BMW models of the same era to see if the part nbr database was the same...all the models I checked (750i/M6/535i) all only had one fuel level sensor.
Then I checked the TIS...and it does mention that depending on specific models...there may only be one fuel level sensor...and then some have a "fuel level sensor 2". Then they use an F01 tank as an example showing the location of the 2nd fuel level sensor:

Thanks. I think the actual sensors work fine, just a bad connection to one of the modules. Time to track them down.
What a mess though.
