2012 650i Service Manual

Hi,

I just purchased a 2012 650i convertible and it pooped the bed on the drive home.

I suspect I will need to purchase a service manual. Any recommendations?

Thank you!

Hi Derekz4,

I was driving home after buying the car and it was running great! Just great! Then, it just stalled. No lights, no engine light, no gauges topping out.

I pull over and restart. Starts right up and then cuts out. Happens two more times and then I get a message that reads, "Do not turn your car off it may not restart."

I've never seen that detailed of a message before in anything I've owned and I almost chuckled!

Then, I try to start and the starter doesn't even turn. Then, the message reads, "Your car is getting excessively hot!" Or something similar, and I see white smoke billowing out of the passenger side of the hood by the battery.

I grab all of my stuff, open the hood and look to see if it is a fire because at this point, I DON"T EVEN HAVE INSURANCE on the car and say to myself I am going to blow any fires out!

No fires, just the white smoke. No leaking fluids, nothing! The lights are all on, I guess because the hood is open, but that's it.

I bought the car As-is. My mistake.

Hopefully it isn't something awful!

Greg

About the insurance thing, I’m pretty sure if you currently have insurance on another vehicle, you have 30 days to notify your insurance of a new purchase, so you should be covered.
Of course, that my only be here in California though.
