Extended Warranty Options....

My cpo warranty ends soon and I am shopping around. Was going to go with USAA/Assurant, but they have stopped offering that product. Easycare declined stating, "Unfortunately it was due to vehicle type."

Any advise/options?

I went with autopom and found a product with a good price to coverage ratio. Pretty happy with it so far but have not yet had a claim (knock on wood). Has anyone had a claim experience with them?

Well got this from AutoPom:

Dear Michael,

Thank you for contacting autopom! in search of a quote for a vehicle protection plan.

We regret to inform you that your BMW M6 is unfortunately ineligible for any of the plans that we offer.

We apologize that we could not provide you with a plan for this vehicle.

Finally got a quote, its was odd, $6,200 for 24 months unlimited miles, but only $200 more for each successive year ($6,400 and $6,600). Too much for two years, fair price for four, just don't think I would keep it more than 1 -2 more years....

Sounds expensive. For the minor issues, each trip to dealer costs about $1000-$1500. I can't imagine the car will do 3 trips in 2 years to recoup that cost.

With extended, you're really insuring against catastrophic failures (engine internals). Pass.

Flying Ace, I have had 4 trips this year alone, air mass sensor was replace due to oil, valve cover gasket, timing chain cover gasket, striped wire in seat (known flaw in design), and now all seals are being replaced. I am sure the total cost of these items exceeds the $5200 I paid. When the replaced the timing cover chain, they also replaced both cylinder head gaskets, and all eight fuel injectors. Parts alone for that repair was 3k. That was a 9 day repair (free loaner) and the seals has been a 14 days free loaner (if I get car back).

That's really odd. Did they give a reason why your car wasn't covered?

"Did they give a reason why your car wasn't covered?" Both said they did not insure this type of vehicle.

Odd, considering they sold me just such a policy last March. There must be more to this than meets the eye. I'm going to call and see if I can find anything out. Perhaps they'll be more clear with an existing customer. Stand by...
