Watch

I’m about to pull the trigger on this Rolex Deep Sea ‘James Cameron’ watch. They are very hard to find and sell at a premium and if the dealer is to be believed, it will go up in value. My retirement gift to me.

It’s also a bit nostalgic. I’ve had a lot of great watches - bought and sold them over the years - and the only one I really miss is my former Submariner. I like this one more because it’s significantly larger than the Sub was. As the dealer said twenty years ago - “Goes with everything from a speedo to a tuxedo.”

A beautiful piece, to be sure, but have a hard look at the nee Omega Seamaster 300M. It's a helluva lot of horology for the money.

As a BMW driver, are you not troubled by the Mercedes logo on the hour hand?

Who will be troubled w/ Mercedes logo?!

My deceased father's 1960 convertible, very well kept. Not able to post the photo, the creep owner of this site asking for access to all photos!! Not gonna happen.
I believe that's your iPhone settings for the app. Not the site owner

I noticed when I was on a Mercedes forum that dealers in expensive watches (often used) thought that it was a good place to advertise. To each his own, but it's not my thing either. My current watch cost about $100, and that would about be my limit.

Now I don't disagree that this is posted in the wrong section of the site, to call someone's desire to purchase an expensive watch a waste of money is a bit silly. If one can afford the expensive item they desire, why is it a waste of money? There are those that will say buying a BMW is a waste of money when a clapped out civic can get you to and from just the same. A billionaire will buy a $3m car without a blink of an eye because they can. It's not a waste of money, it's someone buying what they want within the means they have. It's all relative.

You do realize that many Rolex watches appreciate in value, don't you? Watches are an interesting hobby. Proper purchases can be an investment.

As far as why he posted here, i would assume it is because he feels that those with the financial ability to purchsse a 6 series BMW probably purchase other luxury items such as nice watches.

I'm on several of these Boards. Every once in a while this 6er forum takes itself a bit more seriously than it probably should.... In general some very good content.

I've got several watches though.....

Cheers!

Yeah ok, I get it. I have since discovered in the off topic section a forum called WATCHES. Henceforth I shall post all of my watch stuff there. Y’all can sleep easier now.

The great thing about forums in general, is that they create a camaraderie with individuals with like interests. For myself, anything that creates more discussions, off topic or not keeps the forums alive. Friendships build from there.
We all can choose to open a thread or not, no harm, no foul.

Waste of money? Im sure your car is appreciating in value every month ! As for the Rolex brand, they have many products that are appreciating at a very rapid rate.

Congrats on the purchase.
