Misfires from valvetronic after stem seal change
I just had my valve stem seals changed along with new piston rings, rod bearing shells and new gaskets of course. At my local garage. Car was blowing white smoke from exhaust after switching to downpipes.
The car runs fine if I don't connect the valvetronic cable to the DME. Fine as in I get no misfires, smooth idling, responsive, boost is shut off though (not sure if thats a normal response after disconnecting valvetronic?). When I do connect the valvetronic cable, I get misfires on cylinder 3 and 7. After removing the spark plug on cylinder 3, it seems to have oil on it. And a look through the borescope shows signs of oil on the piston. I also start to get white smoke if the valvetronic is connected. PCV valve showing signs of oil as well (although its brand new and I think its only getting oiled up after connecting the valvetronic). So everything seems to point to something wrong with the cylinder head and oil leaking when valvetronic is running. Does somebody know what this could possibly be and what's most likely to be causing the leak after a stem seal repair? |
