E38 and now F06 owner

Hi everyone,

I've owned two E38s since 2005 including my current 2001 750iL. The only newer BMW that I felt captured the same spirit of that car was the F06. This weekend I picked one up. It's a 2015 650i xDrive Gran Coupe. It has 32,600 miles, with warranty until 2/28/19 and then CPO for one year after that. I drive a lot (66 mile commute daily) so I am hoping anything that wants to go wrong will happen before either of those are up! I'm used to DIYing everything with my E38 so its strange to think I can just take this one to the dealer for any issues (strange but nice...)

Reading this forum helped a lot as I searched for an F06, so thank you all!

Anyways, here are a some photos of them together. I really wanted white on black both for the ease of maintenance (I will never own a black daily driver again) and to contrast with my black on black E38.

congratulations! you have both iterations of a car BEFORE bmw turned them into a hot mess. That was the last elegant 7 until the current one finally showed up

Gotta say, I love the F06/12/13 looks but that E38, in black, in the last year of production and with the V12....MMMMMMMMMM yummy. I think it looks better than the F06!

I hadn't thought of that about the 6-series, but you are right! I have people tell me all the time "that was the last good 7-series."

Wow thank you! It's nice to see the E38 still getting love 17 years after she was built! It is amazing how big the F06 seems outside compared to the E38, but how much more room the E38 has inside. It has the little footrests even.

Same here. The E3x cars were the ones that were "cool" when I was growing up (born in 1986) so they're definitely what I think of when I think "BMW".

Buck...I'm trying hard to NOT go see this 2013 650ix that's about 90 miles away. It has just about everything I want except the sport pkg and color...and it's really the color that I'm trying to stay away from. I had a jet black e32 735iL and it looks great right after washing...but trying to keep up with the dust etc (you know 1st hand)...and I'm not as young anymore
