She's 10 years old today!

10 years ago today my 650i rolled of the assembly line in Dingolfing. I've always said that mine is a Wednesday car and as it turns out, she is hahaha. No major dramas or problems in my 3 years of ownership, and nothing on record with BMW either. Fuel pump, radiator, coolant lines and a couple of suspension bits pretty much sum up the major repairs to date Here's to at least another 10 years then.

I've attached a couple of roadie shots of the old girl

It’s crazy to think this generation of 6 series is turning a decade old! Our cars are truly timeless in their beauty.

hugo_nz, I see that you are from the North Island, but those pics look like they are from the South Island. Where were they taken?

Well spotted. We did a big road trip a few years back and these are all South Island photos. Top to bottom the locations are:

* Fox Glacier Highway
* Lake Hayes
* Cullen Point
* Crown Ranges (Pisa Conservation Area)
* Lindis Pass
* At Home

Our road trip took us from Auckland > Ohakune > Wellington > Picton > Nelson > Fox Glacier > Wanaka > Queenstown > Christchurch > Picton > Wellington > Napier > Rotorua > Auckland

I knew it We drove from Auckland and throughout the North Island to Wellington, then from Picton down the the West Coast to Milford, then up the East Coast...almost same as you. Trip was just over a year ago. Came back right before the pandemic. Last time we'll travel normally for a while.

I love NZ! Wish it was closer to US. But darn speed limits are only 100km/hr (for good reason). Do you ever get to open her up anywhere? Are there any tracks there?

Hugo, our cars are such beautifully designed and their silhouette is timeless, in my humble opinion the 6 series is one of the most beautiful modern classic cars BMW have produced. Really lovely shots mate.
See my beloved 650 and Rangie SC. Both modern classics I’ll never part with.

I have to agree. Funny story, I was not in love with the F12 when it launched but I definitely am now. The interior especially is just such a special place to be in.

I haven't been to the South Island yet Hugo but maybe this summer! I love some of the roads there even in a rental Corolla

I've been everywhere in the North Island though and have racked up 80km in 2 years and 22 months. I have posted this pic before but first week I owned it I did a big trip to New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier. During that trip I took my favourite pick I've taken of it so far - somewhere near Whangamomona.

brad850csi hugo_nz Where are you able to really drive your cars in NZ? While there are some stretches of open, straight roads, the speed limits are quite low. Most of the roads are windy, twisty, and must be driven relatively slowly.

There are plenty of stretches of straight flat road about though you are correct in saying the legal speed limit is low (100km/h). With that being said I’ve done some spirited driving when conditions permitted :-) as for the twisty and windy roads, I quite like driving those. My 6er is equipped with ARS so she corners beautifully.

There are some tight roads that would be better suited to an M3/M4 but as Hugo said there are plenty of fun roads too.

Raglan to Tuakau is fairly close to Auckland and is a great road without much traffic on it.

Further out, SH35 or SH2 between Opotiki and Gisborne is amazing as is Taihape to Napier. They are completely empty roads and in an M6 it is possible to sit at quite good speeds for a long time. Google says Taihape to Napier is 2 hours 14 minutes, I've done it in 1 hour 30 and probably saw 3 cars in that time!

Te Kuiti to Turangi on SH30, SH32, SH41 is also great fun with no traffic and a good mix of twisty sections and flowing corners.
