Engine cleaning/detailing - 4.4 V8 TT

The engine in my '15 650 GC is not extremely dirty but I would like to clean it and make it look as 'new' as possible but I am a little afraid of damaging some components with the water and/or the cleaning solution I will be using.

I watched a few youtube videos but none were for the 4.4 V8 TT engine so I am wondering if you have any tips on how I should go about cleaning the engine compartment (including what cleaning spray/chemical I should use) and if there are any parts in the engine bay I should be covering or avoid cleaning and rinsing.

Used this for years and years on multiple vehicles. It's citrus based so it doesn't eat away at rubber and hoses etc.
