New weekend car

Love my F06 as my daily but wanted a luxurious grand tourer for date nights. Found this gem on BringATrailer.com

WOW, that is beautiful! I have always appreciated the styling of these. The wheels totally finish the look. Congratulations!

Had I seen it, I would have bought it.

Beautiful car. Enjoy it!

You are braver than me. I was going to buy one as well about a year ago but the potential for very costly and time consuming reliability issues had me running for the hills.

That is absolutely stunning. The presence these cars have even today is something to behold. Keep us posted on your ownership experience!

Congratulations! Absolutely beautiful!

One look at this and it's more than obvious why everyone who loved the original 8 is so disappointed by the car that wears the badge today.

The Alpina versions are selling for some large numbers now these days. Get it sorted to perfection and hold onto it. The buttery smoothness and perfect power delivery of large naturally aspirated engines is just impossible to replace.

The e31 and e38 are two of my favorite BMWs of all time... both in V12 trim, of course.

That’s a clean one. Can’t see that one going anywhere but up in value.

I was just about to post that same comment! It still has a classy look where as the current one looks like some 21 year olds ricer dream. The current will not age well at all and is already starting to look a little stale.

Agreed! Look at how low, wide, and sleek this one is... and then flip over to a picture of the new one... it looks like it's suffering some massive inflammation! Bloated.

The hood on the original 8 was so low and sleek looking... and then the new one looks like it's literally MASSIVE (with some large hump in the front) in comparison. Who would have thought that the lower, sleeker one was the one actually hiding a V12 under the sheet metal!

Modern cars have really become bloated.

Thanks ezmaass, you have finally helped me figure out what those fake air vents are in the rear of the new 8. They are fart ports! It allows the bloated pig to pass some gas!

I am jealous! That is on of my favorite cars of all time!

I would be worried about maintenance and repairs though.

Let us all agree that the new 850 Coupe is really a redesigned 650 Coupe (and a poor attempt, IMO) and is in no way a replacement for the 8 Series from the 90's.

I believe BMW made a mistake in changing the name from 650 and should have left the 8 series name for a future supercar.

Nobody 'hates' the new 8 Series, we just are not in love with its bloated, over designed and underwhelming exterior.
