New seat covers

I've got a 2016 640 xdrive couple. I have the multi contour seat. It is Dakota leather. Thinking of changing the front seat covers with a different leather such as merino, etc. where can I purchase from? Also how bad is it price wise? I've tried looking it up and I get some ridiculous numbers which lead me to believe what I'm seeing is not what I want.

If you were going to upgrade, you probably don't want merino because that was only in the extra-cost "Individual" interiors. You'd want nappa, which is what came in most 650s. But the only source for pre-made seat covers would be BMW (or a junkyard). There are no third-party aftermarket makers of such things. Even from an online discount seller genuine BMW seat covers would be very expensive - I have not looked but several thousands of dollars for an entire interior. Probably be cheaper for a high-end upholstery shop to make them - but still not cheap. Honestly, if that was important to you, you should have probably bought a car that already had what you wanted.

I just looked. Without going into it too deeply because there are so many options, but to replace just the front seat covers in my car - nappa and perforated leather - would run about $5,500 from an online seller. The backs and seat bottoms are about $1,250 each and the thigh supports are about $250 each.

EDIT: And that price does not include headrests.

Yup, I did a quick look and come up with 8k in parts for front and rear with climate control.

Changing seat covers can be quite time consuming as well since the ringlets have to be replaced and clamped, and depending on the level of wear the actual foam may come apart when you remove the covers as well.
