I think the issue is the extra weight more from the convertible than the awd. When I was looking for my convertible I was told the same thing. The extra weight would lead to the rear sagging a little and nobody wanted to talk about it. It was just easier for them to say no than to risk saying sure, it'll work. In the end I decided to wait for someone with a convertible to do it and see if they had any issues. So far all the cars that I have seen are hard tops 2dr or 4dr.

Umm totally wrong, I'm currently using mine on an x drive. And it's been fantastic, I don't know who you talked too, but that's a load of shit.
