Dash Cam Hardwiring into fuse box help F06

Hey guys,

I am trying to hard wire my new blackvue 900s into my car, do you guys know which fuses to use? I have a 2016 bmw m6 gc. I know there is one in the trunk and glove compartment. I uploaded a picture that i hope is the diagram for my m6. I assume all f06 have the same diagram.

Have you considered an OBD2 power adapter? Way less hassle and works like a charm.

https://www.amazon.com/obd2-power-ad...+power+adapter

Some of them even have a switch on them so you can toggle between power on ignition and always-on, so that if you park your car somewhere and want to use parking mode, you can just flip the switch and the camera will keep recording.

a couple points to keep in mind. The OBDII port power is not switched so the camera will be on all the time. If you drive the car daily, that should not be a problem but over extended down time, this could result in "excessive battery drain" warnings. It is fairly easy to use the mirror connections. This is switched and avoids having to run the wiring over the A pillar air bag. There are several posts in forum. The color coding for all the cars is pretty much the same.

You can get a switched OBD II adapter to avoid the battery drain issue - though unsure how that works with the Blackvue parking mode.

Another option is - under the glove compartment is a hidden 12v socket, I saved the hassle of tapping into the fusebox by wiring my dashcam directly into this.

parking mode requires one switched and one always on power point for most dashcams

I didn't want to faft around with the hard to reach (fear of dropping fuses in the firewall) fuse box behind the glove compartment so I connected my dashcam hardwire to the trunk fuse box.

I used the following slots for the Thinkware hardwire :
Fuse 154 5A (Trunk lights) always on, yellow wire
Fuse 147 20A (Lighter socket) switched, red wire
Metal Frame, grounding black wire.

Hope you find this useful.

Backvue makes a rechargeable battery so that you can use parking mode without draining your car battery.
