I always say. If you need 4drs get the GC. If not, get the C.
There’s no correct answer here. They both look damn good. Especially in the m-sport version. My very close friend has a 650 C. I have a 640 GC. Even though I get more attention to the point where he says...”damn I should of brought a gran coupe". I still prefer the looks of the coupe. |

Since nobody mentioned it yet, I think the f12 convertible takes the trophy. That retractable rear window is goals (I own a GC)

Thanks...Regarding the frame, I believe you are just referring to the standard BMW "shadowline" window trim which typically comes on M-sport models, although I have seen some M-sports with chrome.

I happen to like the Gran Coupe better...I think it's a timeless design and probably the best looking BMW ever made. The CPO warranty ends on my wife's 2015 640i GC in March 2020 so we will be looking to pick up a CPO 2019 when those start returning from lease...I might even try to go for the 650i GC or 6M GC when that time comes!

For me, it had to be the GC. I’ve always loved the big Bimmers, hence my longtime love for the E38. I just love the look of the extra two doors on the F06. I’ve lost track of the compliments it’s gotten since I bought it a few weeks ago.

I'm a huge fan of the GC....the perfect mix of sophisticated, mean and sexy.
I was looking to replace my Audi A6 4.2L and was lukewarm on the 6 series till I saw the GC. After I test drove the 650i....it was just a matter of finding the right color/options and deal. Threw on a set of Liquid Black V spokes, tinted the windows, installed a set of spacers, blacked out the grille and can't wait to get behind the wheel. |

Pretty sure they'll both depreciate hard and you should decide based on your personal preference. Cars that sticker over 100K, don't seem to hold their value. If you can afford $100K car...you're going to go find one you love and set it up the way you want it. The other factory is the fear of major repair expenses after you're off the factory warranty.
I use that to my advantage and buy a low mileage 2-3 year old premium car after it's already taken the initial hit. You can get a lot of car for the money that way. |

I realise some of these points are about things other than looks, but bear with me, here are my thoughts:
Pros for GC: Looks a bit sleeker due to the extra length I love the extra window though at the back of the rear doors I really like how the rear brake light extends across the width of the roof - this is my favourite feature of the GC (that nobody has mentioned yet) In the M6 with Sakhir, Silverstone or Aragon leather you get a coloured stripe the colour of the leather down the middle of the roof - also another really cool and unique thing Cons for the GC: I don't like how the rear door looks so short in comparison to the front door, it looks a bit too short The boot lid also looks a bit weird and short in my mind, the proportion there is slightly better on the Coupe. Pros for the Coupe: About 80kg lighter than the GC Feels more nimble due to the shorter wheelbase Easier to park due to the shorter length Cons for the Coupe: You can only use the rear seats if the front person is 5'6" or less and the rear person is about 5'2" or less. Doesn't have separate climate control for the rear seats, or heated rear seats (although this is only an option, not all GCs have it) I ended up going with a Coupe because I wanted to know I had the most nimble and lightest version of the S63Tu + M-DCT combination possible. That was more important to me than the looks |

Seriously?
And are so many as well,
Who seem to forget, The many good folks, Happy to appease those that pick (or get stuck with) .....Second Best. Seriously, (but in good fun) it's startling how many appeals there are to "what other people think" in this thread. For aesthetics? Coupe, no contest! Gran is great looking- but doesn't rival the coupe until you start factoring in the caveats and mitigating factors "that can haul kids"..etc. And functionally...mass and wheelbase matter...not that the coupe (esp xdrive) is exactly nimble in that regard. Although I enjoyed the A6 4.2 reference, had one and it was a tank-- in the best possible way, very durable, great build quality. Last edited by Dasein; 07-03-2018 at 03:32 PM.. |

You coupe people can keep making yourselves feel better and appreciating each other's posts, but the majority has spoken. GC is the clear winner

Just to continue the friendly discourse...FWIW...looking at US sales figures* from 2012-2015 (couldn't find 2016-18)...the only year that the coupe outsold the GC was in 2012. And the rest of the annual sales figures...the GC out-sold both the coupe & vert combined:
2012
2013
2014
2015
* sales figures listed by carsalesbase.com
