Im not surprised. Maybe im biased but it looks way to new age, this is what the 6 would have been if they didnt rename it. Im happy our bodystyle still looks timeless.

and it'll drop another 15k soon as someone drives it off the lot! Gotta love depreciation. Only car i'd buy brand new is a Porsche! Otherwise, get me those M cars for 50% off!

There's really very little demand for this car. The backend is an absolute mess, the side of the car lacks all traditional BMW cues and lacks character, and the front end already looks stale. The new 2 Series Gran Coupe is going to have virtually the same front end. The interior is exactly the same as every other new BMW coming out in terms of theme. It's not unique like the 6 series.

This car is going to depreciate like a rock, sales figures will be low, and they've already announced that it's going to be discontinued! What more information does anyone need to know that the 8 Series will be looked at as a disaster just like the previous 8 series. The only difference is, the previous 8 series actually had style and this one doesn't.

Yes, that info was out a bit ago. If they were going to do the 8 series, should have been a coupe only, long nose style like the original, and a perhaps a limited run. Those originals are still amazing!

Garage List
2021 BMW M550i  [9.00]
I believe the introduction of the new 8 was a result of greediness by BMW - increase the ‘level’ (6 -> 8) will allow for higher price premium and increase over outgoing model than by introducing a new 6... I’m not sure this has resulted desired outcomes, sure 850i is more capable than 650i, but other than 4WD helping to amplify straight line speed, no other meaningful upgrades (new iDrive tech aside - I actually prefer the previous version, especially when forced to drive on the ‘wrong’ side if the road and not being left handed. Again, M8 will probably beat M6 on paper by all standards, but not sure that translates to anything else more meaningful than more wins in traffic light drag race...

This isn't any different from when the 6 series was in production. It would always get dropped by $15-$20k by model year end. Especially the M6.

I think this is just the beginning of story.
8 series is over priced and nothing significantly different from 6 series.
I am expecting even more discount in range of 30's K on M8 ...

Agreed... non of these upgrades can explain +20k (USD) window sticker...
And to me there are some downgrades such as DCT vs torque converter

Based on sales, maybe they should start calling it the last edition.

That's the "flagship" rebate that they get from BMW NA. They gotta sell this 'interesting' car one way or another.
