Thoughts on this deal on new M6 GC?

Hey folks I am in the market for a new daily and have been looking at quite a few cars: M3, M5, C63S, E63S, RS7. Currently my wife and I share a 2015 X5 35d and 2012 A6 3.0T as daily drivers. The A6 has been great, but I want something with more power and sound than the A6. Moreover, the warranty on the A6 is ending in about four months.

Being that 2016 is almost here, I have been searching nationwide to see what all leftover 2015 cars are out there as from my past experience great deals can be had if a dealer is willing. The M6 GC wasn't on the top of my list as I figured a M5 or E63S would be more practical, but I have found a new leftover 2015 M6 GC with executive package, driver assist plus package for $26k off MSRP. It doesn't have the competition package, which is a bit of a bummer, but to me the deal seems very good. I just wanted to see what other members, who likely have more experience when it comes to dealing with M6 pricing, think of this deal. Also, can one expect the resale of the M6 GC to be on par, worse, or better than a comparable M5? Feedback much appreciated. Thanks!

Ha that's because you were knocking on my R8 and stating how the M6 is better than my R8 V10. Plus I recall you and another member were stating I can't "handle" the power of a M5/M6 due to its massive torque. In any case, yes that was some time ago. But no matter how much time has passed the R8 V10 is still king in my garage!

LOL... good ...but still I say RWD M6 has lots of torque and power .... and M6 will destroy your "garage king" in straight line (rolling)

......................R8 V10+ ........... M6
50-100 km/h:.....1.9 s..............2.0 s
100-200 km/h:...7.8 s..............7.3 s

You're correct that the M6 has lots of power, no doubt. I also have no doubt that a M5, M6, E63S, RS7, etc will pull from a R8 V10 on a highway roll. But aside from this, there really is nothing better about a M6 vs R8 V10. R8 handling, braking, sound, feel, looks, resale, desirability are far superior to the M6. This shouldn't be a revelation to you or anyone else as the M6 is a 4400 lb cruiser and the R8 is a purpose built sports car. In the real world on back roads and on the track, there is no way that 90% of drivers can keep up in their M6 with a R8 V10. Just as you pulled up the acceleration figures, I can pull up lap times such as C&D lightning lap, where the M6 does a lap in 3:04.7 and R8 V10 Plus in 2:57.5. Ring times by Sport Auto, M6 8:09 and R8 V10 7:44. So sure, the M6 is much faster if you are roll racing on the runway or at go to jail speeds on public roads. But in the real world there really is no comparison as they are no competitors to begin with anyhow.

BTW, how about you actually post some thoughts on what my original post asked about instead of taking this thread off topic?

I think it's a great deal if you can lease it, but for purchase, that is pretty much the value of the car.

Thanks for the feedback. I have actually never leased a car before and all the various numbers and factors frankly make me a bit hesitant to lease as I'm not sure whether the lease deal would be good or not. What would be considered a good lease deal given the negotiated price of the car is 99,600? And for that price would you still shy away from purchasing?

Well we need to wait to see but for sure M6 will destroy AMG GTS in rolling...
That's the downside leave me in doubt to move forward

Ok my friend let me elaborate something here:

Speaking about looks, feel , resale they are all dependents. I agree the handling of a small, light car must be better than M6, but I cannot say the superiority of R8 everywhere... Can you drive your R8 everyday, everywhere?

Well I know a 2 seat 3700 lb R8 is 500 lb lighter than 4200 lb M6 GT car,... BTW I'm happy you finally admited R8 is sport car and not exotic car; however last time I called it entry exotic car that made you angry

well I have no idea where you found 8:09 time for F06/F12/F13M6!!!!
There is a report of 7:55 for M5 and hopefully you agree M6 is slightly faster than M5 so I believe it's something about 7:50-7:55...
And if you are talking about the real world, you can watch the following youtubes video where Randy Pobst drove both R8 V10+ and M6 the same day
2013 best driver's car Audi R8 V10+
2013 best driver's car BMW M6

The result shows over the Laguna Seca raceway, R8 V10+ ran 1:38.7 and M6 ran 1:40.5 .... I don't call 1.8 second difference "a lot better lap time" ...
There are many other lap time comparisons show the difference, but overall yes there is no doubt R8 V10+ is faster than M6 on racetrack... it's meant to be right? but the question is with 40-50k difference it worth? that's the question must be answered by individuals....

Back to topic I believe 26k off MSRP is a great deal. If I were you, I would go for it. What are the MF and Residual they offered you?
You can see the November rates here if it helps:

M6 GC is an amazing machine, it has a look, comfort, power and practicality that you can not find in this hoarse power category. And the look! When you valet the car, It's gonna stay in front of the hotel, not in the parking garage. There are lots of great Audis and porches and mercs are roaming on the streets, but m6gc is a rather a unique car. Drive characteristics are way different from m5, I found the m5 rather numb.
I used the GC for short and long trips, and my kids found the back seats rather comfortable. I think m6gc is the best of two worlds.
