Just to say had the opportunity to go to an unveiling a wee ago. I’m quite looking forward to the next few years!!

That dashboard can go to hell and die. Just an absolute fail on so many levels.

IDK – I think the panoramic thing is pretty cool. Different strokes and all that.
Now that steering wheel is all kinds of stupid, but here we are. |

Man, I want to like it, but after seeing the interior I just don’t get how it’s getting so much praise. And yeah, that dash is rough. I don’t understand how a dash that feels like it’s 40 feet away is supposed to be “driver‑centric.” The steering wheel looks ridiculous, and I’m really getting tired of the giant‑tablet‑in‑the‑middle trend. Can we please get some actual ingenuity instead of the same copy‑pasta designs? It’s getting really f’n old.
It’s wild hearing myself say this because I’m usually all for change and moving forward. I like minimalist design. But this? This is just trash. I don’t think it’s going to go well for BMW once it hits the market. The over‑the‑top positivity feels like BMW propaganda and journalist bloat. |

I’m a big fan of the head up displays in recent cars. This takes it to the next iteration. The idea with the display seemingly more distant is that your eyes don’t have to adjust as much between the outside world and the displays.
The instrument cluster is actually a legacy solution that had drawbacks and just accepted for so many years. Time to break through it. The central display is no different to the current main screen and I totally agree that on its own it would be as terrible as a Tesla - but it isn’t. There is an instrument cluster - it’s just now pushed up to just below the windscreen and all across the front. People criticised the IX steering wheel but tbh it’s been great for me. I’m really looking forward to this… I suppose many people need to stick with the old way of doing things and I guess that’s fine. Eg many people haven’t embraced one pedal driving yet in their EVs … Ps one thing I still hate and BMW needs to go reverse gear into is returning climate and some other buttons back as real buttons and not bloody touch screen controls. And don’t tell me voice commands is the future coz it isn’t, hasn’t been and can never be!!

The only thing I really hate about the steering wheel is the stupid spoke at 12 o'clock, which looks completely awkward and out of place, IMO. I have zero desire to own an SUV, so the iX3 isn't for me, but I'm very interested to see the i3. It won't be my next car because of the timing of its release and my lease-end date, but could definitely be the one after that. Also: one-pedal driving is the best. Seriously awesome, and one of those things that once you embrace it you really miss it in vehicles without it. |

Honestly I keep telling my wife and other friends to try it. Paired with a good ACC there’s so much stress removed from driving.

I really like the panoramic display. The regular HUD doesn't work for me, I've had multiple cars with this feature and I keep it enabled, but I never actually look at it since I'm just so used to looking at the instrument cluster. This panoramic display seems like it would be the best of both worlds for me.
Have to agree about the physical climate control buttons - bring them back! And I feel that the steering wheel could look great with the 12 o'clock spoke removed, but so far we've only seen two versions - one with the spokes at 6 and 12 and another without either. Hopefully there will be a 3rd option ![]() Exciting times to come as I'm impatiently waiting for all the Neue Klasse ICE/MHEV models. |

For reasons I can't quite articulate, one-pedal driving gives me the some of same feeling as a manual transmission in an ICE car. I think maybe it's because I feel more in control of how the car is reacting moment-to-moment? It's certainly not a 1:1 comparison, or probably even close, but there's just something that makes me feel that way. I wish I could put my finger on it.

I just cannot get used to opd. Like something is waiting to choke the cars movement the moment I lift my foot off the accelerator, gives me unease, really happy BMW gives us that choice to use opd/no opd.

I like the interior, especially panoramic display, though it does need physical HVAC and radio buttons.
BMW obsession with oversized and LED contoured nostrils is getting out of control. Not as bad as some X-trucks on the road today, but any minor parking scratch risks becoming $1+K repair event. For no upside. For anyone who parks in the City, you know what I mean. Will defer final judgement until I test drive it. Quote:
The added benefit of one pedal EV driving is that you are converting forward momentum (kinetic energy) into electric battery charge, instead of dumping it into heating brake pads and rotors. There is something very satisfying about that for an engineer in me. YMMV, a

I am not an EV guy. I could maybe go with PHEV. My impression is BMW's EVs are pretty reliable. I know Porsche has been having nightmares on EVs.
If I was going to buy an EV it would be a BMW. I like the i4's in particular. I would not buy a Tesla. No Elon hate but they seem to have issues. |

Dashboard is amazing. Easily best ever, and best in the industry. The only reason I will downgrade from iX.

That interior is complete trash. BMW appears ready to mate awful interiors with their currently awful exteriors.
