This summer I replaced my wife's 2018 Honda Accord with a 2022 G20 330i and I love it. However, I probably agree with everything the OP posted if I hadn't have gotten it for less than 25k with only 30k miles on a clean title. It's a lot of car for the money on the used warranty free market. "Free" as in I'm the warranty.

One of my best friends has a G80 M3 and obviously it's above and beyond a better car in feel and quality but not doing 70k for a daily driver in any life.

Eh, when a BMW 3-series comes with lane assist, blind spot monitoring, crash assist, a non-sport-oriented suspension, and with no manual transmission option, it's meant for older women as a 3-year lease. Lots of money in that.

Name a car that doesn’t have the first three options? Tech continues to evolve, so why wouldn’t cars? And there is an option for a sport oriented suspension.

Should we say that M5’s are for middle aged, balding, height challenged men? Oh, wait…

Well, OK, don't buy one then.

As an owner of a G20 330ix, I have to disagree with you on every point.

I have owned a lot of BMW's over the years from 318i's to 740's and this 330ix is one of my favorites. It does everything well; it is an excellent car (and great value). Probably the best 3 series ever. I would by it again in a minute.

Trash? Really?

That's called confirmation bias. It's terrible, worse the the e46 or e90 generations by far. It's probably the worst generation 3 frankly. It's totally lost the BMWness and is instead a soulless, trash dynamics, trash interior, not a luxury car for people who just want to say they have a BMW.

I'm glad you like yours, really I am, but BMW can do better and should have done better.

I had a '22 330i MSport, and I really liked that car. It just wasn't "sporty" enough, I didn't really need the back seat & based on my weekly 250 mi 1-way commute, the really low electric range didn't benefit me.

During the week I was able to get 90% of my commute on electric & I was charging for free. So if that was my only commute, it would've been awesome.

On the highway though, I was able to get about 36 mpg at 80 mph for 250 mi, but it had a small 10gal tank. My M2 gets mostly 28-29 mpg (have hit 30 a couple times) on the same 250 mi/ 80 mph drive. The M2 has a 12 gal tank, so I get about the same range with a ~600 hp sport coupe as I did with the 300 hp phev sedan.

The interior of the '22 3-series was, imo, a lot better than the interior of the new loaner I had.

Wow! That’s quite an insult to BMW 3 series and X3 drivers. Truthfully, at this point I’m just happy to get a loaner. Most other car dealers offer an Uber home.

If nothing else, when you get your vehicle back, you appreciate the real drivers car you bought.

Not that I could, because I live in the boonies, but I'd rather taken an Uber home than drive a current 3-series or 2-series, or 1-series...

Wow, incredibly sexist. While I agree that sporty cars should come with a manual option, there is nothing wrong with lane assist, blind spot, and crash assist so long as you can disable them.

I usually get a 330i whenever the G80 is in for service, and in reality it's a fine car for what it is. Definitely feels cheap inside versus the G80 but otherwise the reality is it's still better than other soulless mainstream options overall.

So for the target audience, it fits the bill in my view.

Why is my comment sexist?

If you don’t know… that’s a problem and no amount of explanation from me is going to teach an old dog new tricks.

I had an 2020 M340i with a CarBahn tune when I took on a 2021 330i loaner for about a week, and my experience was not at all the same as OPs. Though I prepared for low expectations, I was actually shocked at how well it handled (my daily commute used to be about 40 miles of canyon carving), and the engine and transmission were extremely responsive; that 295 lbs torque came online really early and the transmission knew exactly what gear was needed throughout the throttle spectrum. No complaints with the interior or seating comfort either, to be honest. I remember thinking at the time that I would not at all mind that vehicle being a daily for me.

I had a '22 3-series and really liked that car. It was much better all around than the '26 I had as a loaner - which was what my post waa about.

It's a lighter vehicle than the M340i, and honestly, these old farts making fun of it probably forgot that the 0-60 of is about the same as that of a E36 M3.
