They are talking about it not performing as well as studless and studded tires in the most extreme conditions.

But the actual test results across brands show the cc2 ranking in the top half of the "true winter tires" on the market in snow driving.

I've used them in deep snow and challenging conditions and had no perceptible difference in capability from a real winter.

The thing people REALLY get wrong is that a snow tire is only best at driving ON SNOW. You lose critical performance, especially in braking, on any dry surface of any temperature. So unless you live on a dirt road in the far north of America there is really no rational reason to run a snow tire compared to what else is available thse days.

Both weatheractive and cc2 putting up the best all around performance numbers, and good tread wear, and good rolling resistance.

It does look like cc2 is more of a winter compund than all season and is compromised like most all seasons for 4 seasons. There are also perf winter tires that work very well in dry and cold but also when weather changes quickly like freezing rain.

Doesn't look like the winner of that video test above, the Cinturato All Season SF3 is available in the US (at least I don't see it on TireRack)

As I mentioned above, I called around. Sf3 not available in the US with no known planned release.

You can get the cinturato weatheractive, which has a different tread design and compound.

Tire Mileage Ratings in Arizona, or Elsewhere

While shopping for tires you've likely noted not many give a mileage estimate. The climate and the high performance nature of bimmer driving doesn't help. I have nearly nine years on two bimmers we own (both 2015) and we have tried every manufacturers size appropriate models. They're all similar, but you may like the look and feel of one better than the other. Initially I was unenthusiastic about the RF offering, but have adapted concluding that it's a plus with cars your spouses or children drive. The mileage will be about 20K on all if you're lucky. Enjoy!

Run Flats not in stock

I had my first flat tire in a while in my driveway on a Saturday morning. Knowing that run flats can be hard to find, I decided to call BMW service. Got a noon appointment, and waited two hours for them to tell me the tire was not in stock. Had to leave the car until Monday after-noon (and almost $400). Shocked that BMW didnt have a tire in stock for an X3. I had purchased the donut kit from BMW when i bought the car. I’m thinking of swapping out for regular tires

Just FYI, I've run M-cars since 2009 with non-RFTs, for about 180,000-miles, despite the repair kits, my cars have been on a flatbeds three-times.

# 29. I bought a genuine used M spare front wheel which I had fitted with an older tyre kept in the garage and with a new valve that can be fitted to the rear also and a friend or family could run it down with the jack and wrench if I couldn't plug the tyre, better than being stranded in the middle of nowhere.

I had run flats on the 2013 X3 because I was commuting 30 miles each way to an Air Force Base with secure entry and exit. This meant there was no way to get help for fixing damaged tires. I was very relieved to have them because my previous Jeep had a complete flat tire while I was working on Base and I had to use “flat fix” and limp it off base to a gas station to pump up it so I could get home. The next day I drove it to Walmart to get the tire fixed.

Now with the 2026 X3, we’re no longer commuting 30 miles each way and I don’t feel the need anymore to have run flats. We’re using the Pirelli Pzero All season and so far so good. If I had to commute every day to an Air Force Base where I’m completely on my own for vehicle help, I’d put the best run flats out there on it.

My E92 came with Michelin Run-Flats when I bought it used in 2016, I'd never run those tires and didn't know better. Two years later, I was on trip and felt what I thought was a flat tire. I got off the interstate and found a nearly collapsed tire so I immediately found a nearby shop. The other tires were near the end of their lives, the shop was similar to Discount Tires just more import oriented and quoted me a crazy replacement cost. I asked about PS4S' and went with them at $1200 all in. As I continued on my trip, I was surprised how quiet and better performing the PS4S' were compared to Run-Flats.
